OK, who would win: the Go'auld or the Daleks? And why?

The Goa'uld.

Starships, lots of troops, advanced technology, Stargates, they'd beat the crap out of the Daleks.

The Daleks have plenty of the first three, but no Stargates...

Ahh....but do the Goa'uld have time-travel technology?

Okay, I'd say maybe stalemate. Victory would come from a tip in the balance of power. But I'd say that the Daleks are better at creating new technologies. They also have little concept of luxury. But the Goa'uld might be able to trick the Daleks. They at least retain the concept of creative strategy.

Perhaps.

The Daleks are less mobile, as well. Anubis has supersoldiers who could crush the Daleks.

Given one-on-one combat. But it would take either sustained fire from energy weapons, or explosives, to kill a Dalek. Only certain projectile weapons, particularly bastic bullets, have any effectiveness. However, one of the Doctor's companions took on a Dalek with a baseball bat, albeit one embued with plasma energy by the Hand of Omega, and all she did was damage it's sensors, it's eye, and it's dome light. All that really did was blind and panic the Dalek.

The Goa'uld have Naquadah enhanced nukes, that'd blow the Daleks to kingdom come.

British sci-fi writers need to do a better job of comming up with "bad guys"

I mean, who is intimidated by "R2-D2 with an erection"

LOL

That's where Peter Hamilton comes in.

As for TV and Films, alienesque baddies are the way to go.

Aliens have the potential to be truly horrifying.

Sod off. Anyway, it was a comedy writer (by trade) who came up with the Daleks idea. Terry Nation, who used to write for Tony Hancock.

I'm not actually scared of the Daleks per se, but they have awe-inspiring brutality and orneriness (you piss 'em off, they tend to shoot first....then shoot some more). Plus, don't count 'em out if a flight of stairs is between you and it, because it'll either use it's levitation device, or just level the entire building.
