I did see a little one once. VERY little. Like a leaf swirling round and round.... Tornados are very rare where I live, and those that are, are very small. Two years ago a small tornado was filmed as it made its way in Oslo's east end. The few times they are detected here they only measure F0 or F1 on the Fujita-Pearson scale, so they are nothing like the ones in USA. The strongest ones ever detected in Norway was F2.
One is supposed to distinguish these from the more powerful ones by calling them "trombe" or "skypumpe", but of course just about everyone but meteorologists call them tornados.
This tornado didn't do any damage. As a rare guest, it's really cool! I missed out on it though... In May 2004 another small tornado visited Oslo centrum and left limited destruction and a few injured people. I missed out on that one too.
Granted. Now you live in San Francisco and await the next big one.
Speaking of quakes... I wish my entire city wasn't built on mud! It's really ancient swamp land.
