All of the haunting s I have heard of are in the Northern Hemisphere.......

You realise you have just wiped my whole day out now, while I try to research Ghosts in the Southern Hemisphere? :P

Oops, our bad.

I googled it too, and got some results right away from Australia. :P I probably shouldn't have expected any place with humans in it to be completely historically devoid of ghost stories.

A good time for it. It is that time of year again.

Where to start? Well, strange things happen in the graveyard.

Which graveyard?

Where?

Kyle, Google (or Foogle, if you prefer) a terrific American ghost story, a true one which resulted in a murder conviction!

It is the story of Elva Zona Heaster.....enjoy!

Why, anywhere!

Wolves howl through the dark. . . The coffins slow creak open. . . and one by one, the skeletions rose. . .

Dear Kyle,

Since you are writing about graveyards;

You probably knew that Ronnie Van Zant, lead singer of Lynerd Skynerd, and Steve Gaines, guitarist, and his sister Cassie, back-up singer, were all killed in a plane crash in 1977....

Did you know that in the year 2000, someone dug up Ronnie's coffin and dragged it from the grave, and broke open the mausoleum that held Steve and Cassie's ashes?

True.

South Africa has ghosts too. They offer ghost trips at night in one or two cities, to visit some of the older buildings where their ethereal presence may be encountered.

Among others, there's the tale of a woman who hitches a lift and then later she disappears from the car.

Drive Phantom Pass in the middle of the night...

America has had Disappearing Hitchhikers since the 1970's.....maybe one hitched a ride on a ship to get to your country?

I very rudely had to work today, so I didn't get a chance to look up NZ ghosts. I will try tomorrow.

But Sylkat, I googled Elva Zona Heaster.

I sometimes pick them up on my train, The Ghost Express.

You mean that MORE of America's ghosts are leaving the country?

Don't you want them to?

As exorcism victims they may obtain refugee status here. Just as in many other "isms". 8)

I've had a bit of a special interest recently in abandoned places and ghost towns. 8)

Moomingirl.....

Me, too!!

My latest special interest is Samezzano Castle, known as 'Non Plus Ultra'......it is like nothing you have ever seen......many entries and pictures on the Internet, and a couple of fascinating walk-throughs on YouTube!

One of my screen pages is a picture of one of the rooms, which I gleefully stole from the Internet!

Please look it up, but you may feel sad that it was abandoned......

Dear Sylkat,

Really? :D

Any favourite pictures, links, or names to Google would be gratefully appreciated. :)

I am going to combine my special interest with my homework, and read about the Sammezzano castle in Italian. What picture do you have on your computer? The peacock room?

Perhaps you would be interested to have a look through this, and see if any take your fancy.

And this one. Half way down is even what appears to be Krabo's house. Warning, near the end there is one that looks very disturbing. I hope it is not what it looks like.

Also, did you see what I stumbled across on holiday?
http://www.travel-news-photos-stories.c ... raton.html

Very sad, and such a huge waste of money and resources. But very evocative to explore.

I especially love the old castles. Seeing pictures of Pripyat (the town next to Chernobyl) always makes me so sad. People won't be able to live there for thousands of years. :(
