NOAA says it's going to snow tonight and tomorrow too - right on through Saturday! A blizzard warning is up for us now. But I'm naturally suspicious of such horrid prognostications. Cold air flowing down from Canada and rain coming up from down south is making a a blizzard? Snow - right, I got that, but a blizzard? No visibility - stay off all roads for all of Friday and Saturday - big high winds?
Okay...So today it was off to shop!
I didn't know so much what to do about it.But stocking up for a good harsh storm was a fantastic bit of post-prandial fun ( I try not to shop hungry- that costs way too much!). But I bought lots of stuff anyway - not too awful much I think, just cans of food, vanilla pudding packs, tortilla chips and salsa and a half pound of goldish dairy product (you know, the cow product with a bunch of symbols not for this post - starts with a 'ch' and has an 's' in it) So now I wait for it to start in at dawn - with a high wind and blowing snow just starting up and a day and half of it...Uh huh - it's gonna storm a blizzard, so I'm told.
Post storm? A Sunday morning with 18" - 24" in my own yard? Drifts up to the window sills? Fun? - I don't know? What do you think? Build a snowman or an igloo - a fort with good and hard snowballs to throw at folks? Toss it about as I dig out my car with a tool that's just a ginormous spoon? Look for a snowplow to zoom by and bury it again with a curl of filthy slush up to my thighs? Ahhh- snowdays! Cold, damp, sloppy - icy slush by Monday. No work, no school from Friday until Monday night or a following day...now that's a good thought! Just how long a vacation from good strong blizzard? Who knows?
I'm actually thinking that things will turn out okay though - as long as our lights stay on. If the lights go out, I don't want to think about it. I don't want to chop wood and burn it to stay warm. I want only our natural gas warmth - not hours of hard work splitting dirty, old wood, piling it up just so, igniting it and acting as if I'm a slap ax happy pyromaniac.
If I obtain my way, I might just stay comfy on my soft, horizontal lair (a futon actually) with a yummy thick wooly fabric on top of my body. I'll just curl up with my cats, a cup of hot cocoa, radio playing softly and a good book, my laptop - in fact, a monstrous blizzard sounds fabulous to my way of thinking....
As long as the lights don't go out, and it's not too much work...so I say, Bring it on NOAA!! !!
