Watermelons used to taste awful. The fruits, which are technically berries, originated in Africa, where they were only harvested for their water content. At that time, they had a nasty, bitter flavor, but centuries of selective breeding made them extra tasty.

People took baths in ‘rocking tubs’ during the Victorian Era. The bathtubs moved back and forth just like rocking chairs and were designed for people to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the ocean without having to leave their homes.

If you want to know whether a diamond is real, breathe on it. Diamonds are very efficient heat conductors, so the fog from your breath will disappear almost immediately if it is real. If the fog sticks around a few seconds before clearing up, the rock is probably a fake.

"If you receive a special validation to travel to North Korea:

Draft a will and designate appropriate insurance beneficiaries...

Discuss a plan with loved ones regarding care/custody of children, pets, property, belongings, non-liquid assets (collections, artwork, etc.), funeral wishes, etc."

Government programs that exclusively promote abstinence-only-until-marriage programs are statistically ineffective. Research has shown that they undermine public health programs, reinforce gender stereotypes, stigmatize and exclude many youths, violate adolescent human rights by withholding medically accurate information, and they don’t actually delay sexual activity.

what are you talking about here?

Are you saying that American Indians from North America somehow came to Europe 60 years before Christ? About the ten years before Julius Caesar was born.

That is what historian Francisco López de Gómara and other Academics who study the topic, have published.

Additionally, Christopher Columbus met with Natives in Ireland several years prior to sailing to the Americas.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is celebrated in Japan. In 1967, King wrote to Japan saying he hoped to visit and bridge the gap between East and West with ‘good will and brotherhood’ from the US. Today, the city of Hiroshima celebrates their young on MLK Day to teach the importance of electoral politics and non-violent social change.

Oscar the Grouch used to be orange. Jim Henson decided to make him green before the second season of Sesame Street. How did Oscar explain the color change? He said he went on vacation to the very damp Swamp Mushy Muddy and turned green overnight.

You can be denied citizenship in Switzerland if your neighbors think you’re too annoying. (I wonder what you have to do to get that to happen?)
