25 billion pounds of clothing are dumped in landfills per year in the USA and Canada.

It takes 4000L of water to make 1 pair of jeans.

The hole humans made in the ozone layer is slowly shrinking. It’s the smallest it’s been since 1988, which is most likely due to the declining use and production ban of harmful CFCs that were used in aerosol sprays, packing supplies, and other materials that contributed to the initial damage.

If you were to watch Aladdin nowadays, you're probably familiar with the opening lyrics of Arabian Nights:

Oh, I come from a land, from a faraway place
Where the caravan camels roam
Where it's flat and immense
And the heat is intense
It's barbaric, but hey, it's home

But very few people know that, in the original version, "Where it's flat and immense and the heat is intense" was originally "Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face". Yikes! 8O I've only met one other person who knew about that fact.

In 1976, someone altered the Hollywood sign to make it say ‘Hollyweed’. A local student pulled the prank to use as his art project in honor of California’s newly- relaxed marijuana laws. The same thing happened again in 2017, when someone changed the sign as both a tribute to the original artist and to celebrate California legalizing recreational marijuana. (On a lesser note, in the 1970s, the Hollywood sign was in pretty bad shape; it wasn't until contributions from various celebrities brought the sign back to its pristine state we see today.)

In My Little Pony: The Movie (2017), Zoe Saldana voices the avian pirate Captain Celaeno. This is her second time playing a pirate (possibly third depending on how you view the character of Gamora from both Guardians Of The Galaxy movies) after playing Anamaria in Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl, one of her first movie roles.

Every nation’s passport is a shade of blue, red, green or black. There are no rules about the cover color, but most countries decided that the simple, dark hues looked the most official.

The movie Ice Age was originally conceptualized by legendary animator Don Bluth who intended for it to be made as a hand-drawn animated film, but, after the critical and financial failure that was Titan A.E., he gave the rights to Blue Sky Studios. Hopefully, the fact that Disney has bought out a good chunk of Fox as well as their properties (Blue Sky being one of them) is an omen for them to stop Ice Age entirely before we wind up with even more unnecessary sequels.

:D

Virtually all clothing is partially(or wholly synthetic) and the ave. load of laundry releases ~1 000 000 small synthetic fibres(read PLASTIC) into the drain, which ends up in rivers and/or oceans.

Uncountable trillions of these plastic fibres accumulate in the environment and are eaten by aquatic organisms leading to their death. Many of these fibres will take 3-400 yrs to break down.

“Whatever” has been voted the most annoying word in the English language for almost a decade straight.

By producing and releasing oxygen (as a byproduct of photosynthesis), cyanobacteria are thought to have converted the early oxygen-poor, reducing atmosphere into an oxidizing one, causing the Great Oxygenation Event and the "rusting of the Earth", which dramatically changed the composition of the Earth's life forms and led to the near-extinction of anaerobic organisms. (Cyanobacteria)

The UMB researchers discovered that cyanobacteria possess a natural light-dependent electrogenic activity. The bacteria can generate and transfer high-energy electrons -- generate electricity -- to the external environment under illumination. Cyanobacteria fix within themselves an estimated 25 Giga tons of carbon, in the form of CO2 per year and account for 20-30 per cent of Earth’s total photosynthetic productivity.
