Shirley Temple was who was really wanted to play Dorothy, but Zanuck at Fox would not let MGM use her.

So they settled for Judy.

Seems to have worked out.

Psycho

Hitchcock used freezing cold water in the shower to get Janet Leigh's look of shock, right.

Janet Leigh finally found the right guy, married him, and lived a happy life away from Hollywood until her death.

Her daughter, Jamie Lee Curtis said that her mother loved their dogs more than she had ever loved her children.

Whether or not it is true, that is her (and her sister's) perception.......sad.

Wow, that is sad!

"It's A Wonderful Life"

Frank Capra insisted that George Bailey's workshop include a pet raven for no better reason than that avian star Jimmy was a lucky charm who Capra had cast in all of his films from 1938's You Can't Take It With You , onwards.

Jean Harlow and James Stewart had a scene in which they were to kiss.

Once.

Stewart kept mixing up his lines, requiring re-take after re-take.

Much later, he said he had done it on purpose, and added 'Jean was sure a good kisser'.

YouTube has a lovely tribute to Jean called 'American Baby'.....I just watched it again.

Steven Spielberg was originally going to direct ¡Three Amigos! and his choices for the main cast were Steve Martin, Bill Murray, and Robin Williams. John Landis was eventually hired to direct, and he kept Steve Martin but cast Chevy Chase and Martin Short as the other two amigos.

The hat that Dan Blocker wore as 'Hoss' in the T.V. Series 'Bonanza' was made for Bob Hope, for a movie called 'The Paleface'.

Blocker put it on as a joke during the first wardrobe session, someone in charge liked it, and he had to wear it for the duration of the show.

Jaws

During a set visit, George Lucas put his head in Bruce The Shark's mouth and Steven Spielberg closed the jaws. The prank backfired when the prop malfunctioned and Lucas got stuck.

The saxophonist for Springsteen's E Street Band,

The Big Man...

Clarence Clemons...

Had had surgery for a detached retina...

Had had more than one joint replacement...

Had had a spinal fusion...

And went for surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome, which could have ended his career.

So much pain in his life, and he faced it and fought to live, and play his music for us...

Rest in Peace, Big Man!

Black Swan

Natalie Portman dislocated her rib during production and discovered that the film's budget was so low they couldn't afford a medic. The actress gave up her trailer so one could be hired.

Robert Shaw, while appearing in the role of Captain Quint on Jaws, was prone to sea sickness.

The Godfather

Although popular myth suggests that Marlon Brando padded his cheeks with cotton wool to play Vito Corleone, he did so only for the audition. Before the actual filming began, he had a mouthpiece specially created by a dentist.

Before making The Raid (a.k.a. The Raid: Redemption), Gareth Evans wrote a large-scale crime drama called Berandal (Thug). He couldn't get the money to shoot such a big movie and so he wrote The Raid specifically to be relatively low-budget. After the success of The Raid, he was finally able to make Berandal, but he re-wrote it to be a sequel to The Raid. Depending on where you live, it's either known as The Raid 2: Berandal or simply The Raid 2.

In the scene in Alien when the alien comes out of John Hurt's stomach, the actors were not actually told it was going to happen. It shows.
