Emily is writing witty epitaphs for fun today, because that's just the type of thing autistic ducks do during the off-season. Jessie has nothing to worry about and might even laugh!

Oh that's a relief. and no reaper cushions hidden under your wings?

Jessie bounces over and gives Emily a cheek rub.

Emily doesn't know anything about poker or card tricks, and wouldn't know how to make a reaper cushion if she were given a pattern and thread! (Rubs cheeks and invites Jessie to go swimming before realising that sounds menacing -- but it's not). Maybe there are cat-preservers in the shed?

Zandrian wonders what a reaper cushion might look like.

A cushion stuffed with a sickle instead of down? Doesn't sound very comfortable...

Do I get a cheek rub too?

I'm not one of those autistic squirrels who shuns all well-intentioned contact!

Oh Zandrian you can have a cheek rub too!

Jessie runs over and rubs her cheeks all over Zandrian and wraps her tail round Z's head.

All is forgiven, Princess Purry!

Jessie feels jubilant to be forgiven! To tell the truth she cannot even remember what it was she did wrong. She wants to play chase.

Come on Zandrian! Catch me if you can! Let's see if that old Taniwha can move it.

Rushes in amongst the ducks and zooms through the leaves throwing up leaves and twigs in a whirlwind of activity.

Catch is better than cards... I'm a swift footed rodent so watch your step!

Taniwha doesn't like to stray too far from her lake.

Emily is startled by the whirlwind of commotion Jessie has caused. She ducks among the reeds to avoid falling twigs but is happy to see her feline friend so elated. Zandrian is close behind as the two are engaged in their game of Cat & Squirrel. Emily wonders why Naia keeps disappearing, and whether Samantha has recovered from her birthday celebration. She enjoys her view from the water's edge and she hums a pretty song while watching the sunset.

I think it's time to cuddle up among the reeds for a nap, Jessie!

Could we cuddle up against Emily's warm cosy down? I'd love to know what an egg or baby chick feels like when amid that soft expanse of white featherhood!

It feels blissful! Thank you Emily for the duck snuggles. I need a little nap....

A catnap?

Zandrian also feels his bright eyes growing heavy and so settles down not in the arms of Morpheus, but the wings of Emily, and alongside Jessie.

Jessie dreams of slow mice and (vegetarian) pork chops...

Emily shares her downy plumage with Jessie and Zandrian quite happily; she likes helping others and keeping them warm. If only she hadn't just had a bad dream! She scoffs at the memory and takes a sip of lake water, while closing her eyes to better thoughts.

"Is it very far to walk all the way round the lake together?" Zandrian asks.

"Or shall we take that old rowboat I spy there and follow Emily across the shining water? I can handle an old stick like a paddle, you know. Did so once on one of my secret missions."

Jessie doesnt want to admit she is scared of water so agrees without knowing anything at all about rowing.
