When I lived in Guatemala my neighbors worked at a large Korean-run clothing manufacturing facility. Let me tell you, in a country with a 30% unemployment rate, those were some very enviable and well-paying jobs.

Exactly the point, they bring industrialization and jobs to third world nations.

Yeah. There definitely need to be some checks and balances so that outright exploitation and inhumane treatment does not occur, but sweatshops (as a whole) are definitely not the satanic inventions that they're often painted to look like by the media, etc.

No. Because I believe in a capitalist state with socialist aspects. Whilst I believe that free trade between anyone should be allowed, it should be regulated as fair trade. Unregulated globalization has done alot of harm to some poorer countries.

I used to work for them, they paid me almost nothing then they fired me. I'm a hard worker and I was getting paid more than anyone in Guatemala, but the cost of living is a lot higher here in Shakopee Minnesota. I was being paid $15,000 less than the cost of living working at two jobs. Everyday I was working in the morning at McDonald's and the afternoon and evening at Wal-Mart. Then one day a couple coworkers turned in a false report about me and I'm fired and banned from both jobs. If my parents didn't take me back I'd be out on the street. I still can't find a job even though it's been 6 months since that.

The best thing you can do for the countries in Africa is give them jobs with pay that is fair relative to their country's economy, and send peacekeepers to stop warring in the worst countries.
