My old XP desktop computer wouldn't boot up yesterday. Luckily I'd got the partition backed up with Partition Magic and just copied it back and Windows was happy again.

This was a catastrophic hardware failure. ...... I might just simply remove the hard drive and mount it in a different system and recover my important files. Most of my documents and pictures are backed up on my net book.

Lucky you had your files backed up... That had happened to me last week and I was so unfortunate to be the one who had to reinstall vista and start fresh again... YAY for being back on the internet but boo that my music and photos was gone though
Is there a way of receiving them back?

Alas no....Not only do I rely on multiple computers to safeguard my data I also keep stuff
on flash drives....And most of my photos are stored in my Photo-Bucket account and my
browser bookmarks are kept on X-marks.

Im the crying emoticon today. Its very rarely that happen to me actually nowadays but I was reminded of my very painful past yesterday making me depressed today and litteraly crying. I hope Im happy tomorrow again as I use to be...
