The screenwriters of Alien were picturing Ripley as a man, but specifically made it so that all of the characters could be either male or female. This is why none of their first names are ever revealed. Ripley didn't ger her first name, Ellen, until the sequel.

The Hollywood sign in Los Angeles originally read "HOLLYWOODLAND."

Sort of video game trivia that involves film trivia here:

The first Doom video game was intended to be based on the film Aliens. The developers had even begun negotiating with 20th Century Fox for the rights. They eventually decided to use an original concept to allow themselves more creative freedom.

Marilyn Monroe had two known plastic surgeries....
The first was that her nose was shortened...the studio ordered it, and may have paid for it.

The second was a chin implant...this one she wanted, and paid for herself.

I read that Marilyn had surgery on her nose, not to shorten her nose, but to remove a bump in it, and it was arranged by her talent agent. As for the chin implant, I don't know why she'd need one (when Carol Burnett got a chin implant, it was obvious she needed one), and the autopsy didn't say she had one.

On October 8,2013, Dr. Norman Leaf auctioned medical records for Marilyn Monroe which he had inherited from his late partner, Dr. Michael Gurdin.
There were notes and x-rays pertaining to a chin implant.

Dr. Leaf said that Dr. Gurdin told him that the nose surgery was a 'tip rhinoplasty'.

U.K. mail Online, October 8, 2013.

I Googled 'Marilyn Monroe Chin Implant' and 'Marilyn Monroe nose surgery' and Marilyn Monroe plastic surgery'.

I got a LOT of results.

Oh, more trivia...Susan Sarandon, on Mel Gibson:

'Mel Gibson is somewhere to the right of Attila The Hun. He's beautiful, but only on the outside.'

Ryan Gosling was cast as Noah in The Notebook because the director wanted someone "not handsome."

'Gable's an idiot. You know why he's an actor? It's the only thing he's smart enough to do.'

Guess who said that?

The haunted house used in The Ghost and Mr. Chicken was the same house that was Norman Bates's mansion in Psycho.

And you can see it if you do the Universal Studios Tour, but you cannot go near it.

Only two of the six Rocky films were not directed by Sylvester Stallone: Rocky and Rocky V were directed by John G. Avildsen (The Karate Kid).

'Wet, she's a star. Dry, she ain't.'

In total, Daniel Radcliffe went through 160 pair of prop glasses by the end of the Harry Potter series.
