fort st. john. an obscure northeastern BC city. the only reason i remember it, is in may 1979 i saw this unwashed, scrawny teen boy runaway wander around the Victoria BC Mcdonalds where i was having a cheeseburger, he was looking hungry but not being fed by anybody. but the proprietor called the cops, and they came and asked him where he was from, and he said "ft. st. john." since then i've wondered what happened to that kid.

The meme that being a Canadian these days is like living next door to a neighbor who's left his car alarm on for the last three years! :)

We aim those laws at everyone, not just our neighbour!

people from some middle eastern nations such as pakistan and india seem, per your laws, to have an easier time of it, like not being required to show proof of a business plan/$800k free-and-clear assets, not having to have blood relations in-country.

Don't you live in Washington? I suspect that if you had the opportunity to live for a year in, say, New Brunswick you'd probably miss Washington. Also, aren't you old enough for Medicare (or soon to be?). I don't mean any disrespect, it's just not clear to me how much better off you'd be if you were to immigrate to Canada.
