Hug your hubby, Jenny. He sounds like a gem.

He's not too bad.  We've been together a long time- over forty years.

Everybody's talkin' at me
I don't hear a word they're sayin'
Only the echoes of my mind
People stoppin', starin'
I can't see their faces
Only the shadows of their eyes

I'm goin' where the sun keeps shinin'
Through the pourin' rain
Goin' where the weather suits my clothes
Bankin' off of the Northeast winds
Sailin' on summer breeze
And skippin' over the ocean like a stone

How lovely!
Congratulations to you both on 40+ years!

please post relationship tips, asap!

Here's another tearjerker.
Maybe I'll cheer things up one of these days.

https://youtu.be/8DopzOCeKJc

The summer wind came blowin' in
From across the sea
It lingered there so warm and fair
To walk with me
All summer long, we sang a song
And then we strolled on golden sand
Two amigos
And the summer wind
Like painted kites
Those days and nights, they went flyin' by
The world was new
Beneath a bright blue umbrella sky
Then softer than a piper man
One day, it called to you
And I lost you, I lost you
To the summer wind
The autumn wind and the winter winds
They have come and they have gone
And still the days, those lonely days
They go on and on
And guess who sighs his lullabies
Through nights that never end
My fickle friend
The summer wind

Thank you! No tips to share, I'm afraid- luck and patience, mostly!

I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
And one by one they disappear,
I wish that I was flying with them
Now you're not here.
Like the sun through the trees you came to love me,
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away...
Through autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way,
You always loved this time of year
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
'Cause you're not here
'Cause you're not here
'Cause you're not here

Ramble On - Zeppelin

Leaves are falling all around
It's time I was on my way
Thanks to you I'm much obliged
For such a pleasant stay
But now it's time for me to go
The autumn moon lights my way
For now I smell the rain
And with it pain
And it's headed my way
Ah, sometimes I grow so tired
But I know I've got one thing I got to do
Ramble on

Hope you got your things together
Hope you are quite prepared to die
Looks like we're in for nasty weather
One eye is taken for an eye
Well don't go around tonight
Well it's bound to take your life
There's a bad moon on the rise
Don't come around tonight
Well it's bound to take your life
There's a bad moon on the rise

Don't say words you're gonna regret
Don't let the fire rush to your head
I've heard the accusation before
And I ain't gonna take any more
Believe me
The sun in your eyes
Made some of the lies worth believing

I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see any more to know that
I can read your mind looking at you

^Bought that album when it was released!

If you believe in the power of magic,
I can change your mind
And if you need to believe in someone,
Turn and look behind
When we were living in a dream world,
Clouds got in the way
We gave it up in a moment of madness
And threw it all away

Don't answer me, don't break the silence
Don't let me win
Don't answer me, stay on your island
Don't let me in

Run away and hide from everyone
Can you change the things we've said and done?

I had it too! I love that song too! ^

Do you believe in magic in a young girl's heart?
How the music can free her whenever it starts
And it's magic if the music is groovy
It makes you feel happy like an old-time movie
I'll tell you about the magic, and it'll free your soul
But it's like trying to tell a stranger 'bout a rock 'n' roll

I still have my APP album.

Slow down, you move too fast
You got to make the morning last
Just kicking down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feeling groovy
Ba da-da da-da da-da, feeling groovy
Hello lamppost, what'cha knowing
I've come to watch your flowers growin'
Ain't you got no rhymes for me?
Doo-ait-n-doo-doo, feeling groovy
Ba da-da da-da da-da, feeling groovy
I got no deeds to do, no promises to keep
I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep
Let the morningtime drop all its petals on me
Life, I love you, all is groovy

One of my fave SGs
I flew to Nashville to see Garfunkel in 2019.

I'll see if I can find the pics.
We weren't allowed to use cameras but I snuck a couple.
Then I was worried they'd be confiscated lol so I deleted a few.

It's a still life watercolor
Of a now-late afternoon
As the sun shines through the curtain lace
And shadows wash the room
And we sit and drink our coffee
Couched in our indifference
Like shells upon the shore
You can hear the ocean roar
In the dangling conversation
And the superficial sighs
The borders of our lives
And you read your Emily Dickinson
And I my Robert Frost
And we note our place with book markers
That measure what we've lost
Like a poem poorly written
We are verses out of rhythm
Couplets out of rhyme ----> LINKING WORD
In syncopated time
And the dangling conversation
And the superficial sighs
Are the borders of our lives
Yes, we speak of things that matter
With words that must be said
"Can analysis be worthwhile?"
"Is the theatre really dead?"
And how the room is softly faded
And I only kiss your shadow
I cannot feel your hand
You're a stranger now unto me
Lost in the dangling conversation
And the superficial sighs
In the borders of our lives

^ I never got to see either of them perform live.

This song reminds me of a very particular time in my life, feeling very young, far from home and free on a bus moving through the night in a foreign country (not America, though!)

Laughing on the bus
Playing games with the faces
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I said "Be careful, his bowtie is really a camera"
"Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat"
"We smoked the last one an hour ago"
So I looked at the scenery, she read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field
"Kathy, I'm lost", I said, though I knew she was sleeping
I'm empty and aching and I don't know why
Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike
They've all come to look for America
All come to look for America
All come to look for America

My Uni roommate loved that song, so gabardine suits and bowtie cameras became an inside joke.
I'd be leaving for the library and she'd say, "Watch out for gabardine!" or "Beware all bowties!"

I was going to put more SG but decided to switch things up.

This was my fave song with my best friend when we were 14 year-old shite disturbers.
It's still cathartic when I have a bad day.

Everyone goes through changes
Looking to find the truth
Don't look at me for answers
Don't ask me, I don't know

Thanks for the photos!
I wasn't very rebellious when I was 14- I was shy and quiet.

I almost got to see Suzanne Vega live but my husband ended up taking our daughter instead of me because I had a work commitment. :(

My name is Luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes I think you've seen me before
If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble, some kind of fight
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was

I'm so literal. We were in the front row of a small venue and they said no photography or they'd take our phones. There were security guards and I had visions of coming home phoneless. Even after taking the pics I thought if I shared them on FB or WP there'd be Garfunkel spies matching up his clothes with the show and throwing me in jail or something. I wish I'd just taken some better pics but I was too busy staring at him (we made eye contact), and crying.

I love Suzanne Vega! It's so sad that you couldn't go! I hope they enjoyed the show.

Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand
Just like that river twisting through a dusty land
And when she shines, she really shows you all she can
Oh Rio, Rio dance across the Rio Grande

I've seen you on the beach, and I've seen you on TV
Two of a billion stars, it means so much to me
Like a birthday or a pretty view
But then I'm sure that you know it's just for you

I'm glad that the Garfunkel spies didn't get you!

I'm hearing the light from the window,
I'm seeing the sound of the sea,
My feet have come loose from their moorings,
I'm feeling quite wonderfully free.

And I think I will travel to Rio
Using the music for flight,
There's nothing I know of in Rio,
But it's something to do with the night.
It's only a whimsical notion
To fly down to Rio tonight,
And I probably won't fly down to Rio,
But then again, I just might.
