"Oeuyia mentioned friends named Laura, Calem, Guinan, Mike, and Lilli in particular. Would they be here, by any chance?" X continued, clearly trying to look un-threatening.
"A kitty." Kisa suddenly mumbled, pointing at Anna.

Laura took a deep breath upon hearing her name and wiped her tears away with her hands, though her eyes were still all red and crackly, walked up behind Kimmy with Anna folowing. "Oui, that's me, Laura..." she relied. Kimmy looked up, worried.

Laura laughed weakly at Kisa calling Anna a kitty. "Anna's a Sylveon, actually. A 'kitty' is one of those animal creatures that other worlds have in place of pokemon, right?"

"Good to meet you, then." X nodded genially at Laura. "Yes, we have many kitties in our world--and in our dwelling, come to think of it., thanks to Kisa." They added, looking at Kisa fondly.
"May I hold her?" Kisa asked softly, bending down and reaching out a small hand towards Anna.

Lychee looked really excited when there was a genderless being in the room.

They excitedly walked up and shook X's hand. "Hi there, X! I'm Lychee! Are you non-binary?" they asked.

"Oh, right." They walked up and shook Kisa's hand as well. "Nice to meet you too, Kisa!"

Meanwhile, Naomi had run up and was wagging her tail at Kisa and X. "Ooh, me, me! I want someone to pet me!" she exclaimed.

X looked greatly intrigued by the concept of hand-shaking, but then answered Lychee. "Non-binary? What does that mean?" They asked, tilting their head in puzzlement.
Kisa backed away slightly at Naomi's enthusiasm, and hid her face behind X's long hair. "A furry thing." She decided, her voice muffled.

"I'm Guinan, nice to meet..." Guinan started. "Fennekin!" the pokemon interjected from across the room. "Excuse me, I'm sorry," Guinan mumbled, turning away to go find out what the problem was. Maybe the pokemon are just hungry like me, Guinan thought, since she didn't see anything obviously wrong. Then, she noticed the pokedex, which suddenly went off. Picking it up, she saw Lilli's earlier text, along with a sales message: "Buy two pokepuff packages, get one free? What is this junk?" she muttered, and she sent a quick text to Lilli: "Well, we're eating soon. Would food make you feel any better?"

"This little creature-" X began thoughtfully, indicating Guinan's Fennekin, "appears similar to the kitsune of our world."
"A furry thing!" Kisa insisted, looking as though she would dearly like to cuddle both Anna and Guinan's Fennekin all at once.

The fennekin swaggered over to X, puffing all the way. "You might get burned if you get too close," Guinan warned X as she watched. Her Pichu could also be seen watching nearby. Pichu sniffed around curiously.

"Very well, then." X agreed calmly, reaching down to move Kisa further away from Guinan's Fennekin.

Naomi held out a paw for X to shake. "Hello there, my name is Naomi!" she said. "Nice to meet you!"

[I am going to bed soon, just in case anyone wonders where I've disappeared to.]

X inclines their head considerately, privately musing on how different yet similar this world is to theirs. Kisa pulls gently on X's long cloak-like robes. "I am hungry." She whispers. "Is there any food?"

"I'm with X. What does that mean?" Kimmy asked.

"Of couse you can pet her, what'll it hurt?" Laura asked, seeiming a bit happier. "And she's not just any furry thing, she's a Sylveon! But, if you do wanna pet her, she sometimes lets off Dazzling Gleams if you touch her too suddenly." She smiled nervously.

"Very nice to meet all of you. Oeuyia mentioned that Laura and Calem were infatuated with each other. Is that true?" X smiled, fingering the crystal hanging around their neck, clearly something they did out of habit. "It must be nice--to be able to love so freely..." They added in an undertone.

Kisa quietly wrapped her skinny arms around Anna and rubbed her face against Anna's soft fur.

Laura nodded bashfully, her face as red as a tomato. "Ye-Yes, we are in love..." She looked back at him, hoping he wasn't facepalming at her phrasing. Instead, he just seemed like he was just as embarrased at X's question.

Laura tilted her head in confusion. "Whaddya mean, 'love so freely?'"

X looked at Kisa for a moment, with an unreadable expression crossing their face. Finally they replied,
"I cannot feel love."

"You what?!" Laura, Calem, and Kimmy said all at the same time with shocked expressions.

"How do you not feel love? There has to be something you love." Calem said.
"Did something happen that destroyed your faith in humanity or something?" Laura asked.
"Why is she your wife if you don't love her then?" Inquired Kimmy.
