I find it interesting to note that whenever scholars have gone back to the original texts of the old and new testaments in the original greek and hebrew, the word 'hell' is nowhere to be found... it only appears in the King james version and its derivatives, but not in any of the more modern translations...

also interesting is that even in the King james version, Jesus never once mentioned hell.... I would think that if it was that important he might have said a few words about it...

Hmmmm...I seemed to have missed all of the "fun" up in this place. The thread enters the Holocaust years and we get stuck on religion. I remember having my religious leaders try to scare me into believing what they believed as well. :x I suppose I was crazy for requesting that talk be reserved for the Politics, Philosophy, and Religion forum. It is just so disrespectful to tell people they are dammed or whatever for having a different belief.

Anyway!

Glad to hear Oreo is acting normal again.

Prolly 'cause it's English. :P

Seriously, there's so much contradictory information out there about "facts" like these, and as far as I can see every "expert" touting a new secret or scandal has his own motive for doing so (that motive rarely being honest scholarship for the sake of knowledge, apparently). For me it has become a bore even to bother debating it.

(Bear in mind here that I luv ya Triggs. :D )

Why encounter it as disrespectful? I'm not at all offended when people I believe to be mistaken tell me I'm going to a place I believe to be imaginary. From the set of suppositions with which an evangelical Christian is operating, such a conclusion is only logical.

Terra's not exactly a goddess, but she's got some pretty strong powers.

Haha! Rock on.

If we were American media professionals, we'd probably be forced to resign for hate speech. :P
