It is just so disrespectful to tell people they are dammed or whatever for having a different belief.

Why encounter it as disrespectful? I'm not at all offended when people I believe to be mistaken tell me I'm going to a place I believe to be imaginary. From the set of suppositions with which an evangelical Christian is operating, such a conclusion is only logical.
well, it depends, not only for having a different belief but also for being different in other aspects, like belong to any minority group in which those people are condemned to hell because of it. Then I would be offended if I was one belonging to the minority group. I am not personal offended, but a little unhappy I suppose, not by people's beliefs, but by how they take it and how they approach it. Few people express their belief system in an arrogant way without considering other things.
