Who said:

'Unless you are known in my profession as a monster, you are not a star.'?

For LOTR: Return of the King, Elijah Wood had Alka Seltzer tablets in his mouth so he'd foam when Shelob stabbed him.

In John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 (1976), the assault actually takes place on Precinct 9, Division 13. There is no Precinct 13 in the film. Carpenter's working titles were The Anderson Alamo and The Siege. The film's distributor was responsible for the final title.

WhenFrank Sinatra married Mia Farrow, Ava Gardner said "I always knew Frank would end up

with a boy!"

But then, Ava always did have a mouth, and she never did get over him, really, even though she definitely did 'move on'......and on, and on, and on.......

Pierce Brosnan was contractually forbidden from wearing a full tuxedo in any non-James Bond movie from 1995-2002.

Christopher Plummer hated 'the Sound of Music'.

He just did it for the money and referred to it as 'The Sound of Mucus'.

Francis Ford Coppola had no interest in directing The Godfather Part II so soon after directing The Godfather. He recommended Martin Scorsese, who had just directed Mean Streets. Coppola was convinced to direct the film after the studio refused to hire Scorsese.

Robert De Niro screen tested for Sonny Corleone in The Godfather, the role that eventually went to James Caan. Caan screen tested for Michael Corleone, the role that went to Al Pacino. The studio did not want to hire Pacino, insisting on a bigger star such as Robert Redford.

De Niro wasn't cast in the first film but he was remembered for the second, in which he was cast as the younger version of Marlon Brando's Vito Corleone in flashbacks. To date, De Niro and Brando are the only two actors to have won an Oscar for playing the same character.

Marlon Brando very much admired Al Pacino as an actor, and strongly pushed for him to get the part of Michael.

Chris Udvarnoky, who, at age eleven with his twin brother Marty, starred in the 1972 ghost story 'The Other' became a paramedic, then an x-ray technician and died at age 49.

Excellent performances by the boys, and one scary movie!

Neither pursued a Hollywood career.

George Romero's original title for Night of the Living Dead was Night of Anubis. He changed the title to Night of the Flesh Eaters when none of his friends knew who Anubis was. (Anubis was the ancient Egyptian god of the afterlife.) The distributor insisted on changing this title because an unrelated film titled The Flesh Eaters had recently been released. It was the distributor who came up with the title Night of the Living Dead, but in changing the title, they removed the copyright notice on the title screen, which is why the film has always been in the public domain. (Watch it for free on YouTube if you haven't seen it!)
