Jacob's Ladder, a thriller film that became one of the inspirations for
Silent Hill. One of the innovative special effects used was a strange technique, involving a camera filming a a few frames per second, and an actor shaking their head. When sped up, the effect is eerie and disturbing.

Dammit, we missed my year of birth (1983), and my photo retrospective of Doctor Who is all f***ed up now. Thanks, guys.
Anyway, in 1984, Peter Davison was replaced by Colin Baker as the Doctor. This Doctor's arrogant and unstable nature was controversial, as were many stories, but fans were shocked when in 1985, Doctor Who was cancelled by then BBC controller Michael Grade, who it has been said that he was personally prejudiced against the program.
Eventually, Colin Baker returned in the 14-part epic story Trial of a Time Lord, which many fans felt the show itself was on trial. In this show, however, the Doctor faced his ultimate foe, the Valeyard, a being created from the Doctor's own dark side....
After this, Colin Baker was replaced in the role of the Doctor by relative unknown (Colin Baker was well known for his appearance in The Brothers, and we've already talked about Davison) Sylvester McCoy, who played, at first, a clownish, buffoonish Doctor. However, as the series progressed, the Seventh Doctor gained a teenage delinquent companion, Ace. And he also gained a darker side, always manipulating and plotting, sometimes using his own companion as a chess piece.
In 1989, after a spectacular season, Doctor Who was quietly cancelled, and fans were left in limbo. While original novels based on the TV series tried to fill the gap, it wasn't until 1996 that Who fans got something more....
