SNES was the best.
I never really found much on the Genesis to keep me occupied.

What about Shining Force and Phantasy Star?

Sega had some good games, actually a bunch sort of went under my radar... I need to pick up Beyond Oasis for Wii virtual console...

From my experience (which wasn't much since I played it from 4-6 years of age) the SNES was great. I wouldn't mind trying out the Genesis though, just to see what it was like.

Also, I think my favorite SNES games was Raiden 1.

After doing some research on various websites and wikipedia, the levels had the same bosses that I remember (lvl had 1 huge tanks on rails, level 2 had a huge aircraft, etc)

I wish I could play that game....but anyway.

The age of 2D games were when the most awesome games came out. Everything was new at the time too so that probably helped a bit.

I'm of the mindset that 2d games are not less fun compared to 3d... and am sad that most 2d gameplay is becoming extinct.

They are all fun. It's just that majority (as far as I know) of 2D games were great. Compared to the mediocrity that is being released nowadays.

It's a shame that people care more about graphics than gameplay.

I still have a button that says "ASK ME ABOUT STARFOX!" From some convention or expo of my brother's.

The Phantasy Star series was decent. I played the ROMs.

Yup, Katamari Damacy is my shining example of a game where graphics really don't matter... the "crappy" graphics is half the fun.

Actually one of my few examples of a game that is more fun just because it is 3d... I don't think the game design would work quite the same as a 2d game.

Clearly it wouldn't. You can't really have as much fun rolling balls around in 2D than in 3D.

...not really. And unlike most aspies you actually look quite a bit older than you are.

I thought Anubis was mid-twenties. I also thought that yvaN was much older than he is.

:P

Anubis and yvaN I pretty much picked. Ditto with Unknown (aka RTSgamerFTW) and OWA.

The only game system I had in the early '90's was a Sega Master System 2. Then, we got a PlayStation some time after it first came out, probably about '97, '98.
