Shadesey, it was in the Youtube of Pavarotti playing Risk. I thought it was funny!

That was my sister who suggested that, not me.

Once I teach her English and explain to her the rules she is going to say, Whurp?!

Cheeky thing. :) Australia is parrot heaven. This morning DH was talking on the phone when he heard a tapping noise at the kitchen window. He turned around and there was a sulphur-crested cockatoo sitting on the window ledge, giving him the beady-eyed stare from less than a metre away.

Cockatoos are evil.

They do dastardly things to lemon trees, raid rubbish bins, chomp wooden railings to bits, and drop gum twigs all over the ground. But it is amusing to see one hanging upside down by its beak from a tree branch, flapping its wings madly in a bid to impress its mates: "Aaaahhkk! How do ya like me NOW?!"

I have personal experience that they are evil. One pet cockie kept on coming after me and biting me.

Geez. Hope you repaid it with a nice white wine/spring-onion reduction sauce and some pasta primavera.

Wish I had, but it was someone's pet.

Now if it had been someone's pet dog... nah, you probably would not have cooked it up for tea, either.

In other news, Xan could not wait for Christmas, and he's just blown part of his savings on Guitar Heroes 3: Legends of Rock. He's decided that Paint it Black is one of the best songs of all time. :) (And he's not far wrong, is he.)

Chopper Read once did. He was involved in a street fight when he was a kid, and two of his allies ran for it. Afterwards, he came over to one and killed and cooked the dog. Fed it to the guy. The only other to eat it was one of his mates, Cowboy Johnny Harris, who considered it tasty. Ew.

Only Rolling Stones song I'll listen to, thanks to it being the end song for Twisted Metal: Black.

I see a red door, and I want it painted black,
No colours anymore, I want them to turn black,
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes,
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes....

I have a great cover of "Paint It Black" in my music collection, by The Romaniacs (the Canadian ones, not the Aussie ones) off their World on Fire album. They play it as an instrumental in an Eastern-European ethno-fusion style, heavy on the violin and mandolin, and with much shouting of "HOY!"

I've heard them perform it live, too. They invented this huge complicated backstory to "explain" how the band got together: four Ukrainian brothers, tragically separated at birth, are miraculously reunited when they play music at a wedding in Climax, Saskatchewan, yada, yada, yada... very comical. :)

I'm not particularly interested in Guitar Hero III but I know someone who is.
