Mike holds up his robotic arm and folds out the arc welder to show the professor. "Yep, I'm indeed from an alternate Sol system. The one I'm from is in the middle of a Solar System colonization war, and I came here from the Nexus wormhole station orbiting Jupiter. Well, the Jupiter in the same Sol system as the Earth that I'm from and not the Jupiter near here. I say near here, but by your standards I guess it's still pretty far..." Mike tries to point at the professor as he says that but notices that the arc welder is still deployed, so he stows it and once his robotic hand moves back into position he points. It's a bit awkward though because he has already finished speaking by that point.

At this point Sam catches up to us and he stows his engines and fins used for high speed atmospheric flight. "Is this the professor you came to meet? Hello sir, I'm Sam; Mike's assistant bot."

At this point, Professor Sycamore was rather shocked. "Um, well "I'm professor Sycamore. Nice to meet you." he said, dumbfounded. All the starters were there, hiding. One of them, a red and black cat ran up to them. "Litten!!" she hissed, hiding behind the professor. Popplio, the more friendly sea lion, started preforming little circus tricks to show off.
Rowlet, a small baby owl with leaves for wings, flew up and landed on Calem's head.

"These aren't the normal starters here, but a friend of mine pulled some strings so we can get the starters from another region for a while." he said.

"They're so cuuute!" Lilli squeaked.

They noticed the owl spinning about on Calem's head. "Heh, he seems to like your hair."

Perhaps that means you should comb it more...
The owl tilted its head and made a little "ku-koo" noise.

They turned to the professor, grinning. "Could you tell us a little more about them?"

"Well, they actually came from Alola. Litten can attack with flaming hairballs, Popplio likes playing pranks, and Rowlett, well..." Rowlett was rubbling his face in Calem's black hair, making soft chirping noises. He removed the grass type from his head and it in his hands. "Hoo?"

"You, that's who.." he mumbled.

Lilli laughed. "Oh gods, that has so much potential for knock-knock jokes." The owl twirled about and twittered.

They squatted down to pet the Popplio. "But you, dear sir or madam, I hear you like pranks." The sea lion barked excitedly and clapped its flippers. "Well, we may have something in common."

Meanwhile, Litten was hiding behind the Professor, eyeing them with suspicion and curiosity.

"Oh no..." Laura thought, as she heard what Lilli said.
"um, do you need help with that little guy?" she asked her boyfriend, who was still having issues with the Rowlett that had apparently grown attached to him. She dug through her purse and threw a cracker to the other side of the room. "Koo!" the little owl cried, immediately flying after it.

"Hi Professor. Im Guinan by the way," Guinan said quickly after watching the Pokemon antics for a while. "What do we need to do to get one of these pokemon, if that's possible? Any chance we could borrow your... what's it called, the device that scans the Pokemon to tell us more about them?" Guinan had stowed her pokemon in the pokeball during their flight. Yes, she actually figured out how to do that. All the professor would be able to see now is the pokeball in her hands.

Professor Sycamore dug through a box, pulling out a red and black device that looked rather clunky. "This is a pokedex. If you scan a pokemon wth it, It'll give you info about it. And it would be nice if you helped us catch all 720 pokemon listed ~" he said, causing Calem to shudder and Laura to pinch he bridge of her nose. Sure he was nice and all, but he was always nagging them to catch all of them.

"That thing can shoot flaming fireballs you say?" says Mike as he folds out the scanner and takes a some readings of each of the starter Pokemon. "I must admit, Litten here is quite cute."

Lilli was playing with Popplio, but paused when they heard the word 'info.'
"Is there any chance I could assist as well?" They didn't know how much it would help, but at this point any info would be good. Especially about Pokemon.

They didn't know much, but they were getting some straaange vibes from them. Who knows, maybe they were magical.

"And, um, there's also something I'd like to show you, if you have the time."

Laura knew that they had no idea what they were getting into. "Litt?" the kitty purred, running against Mike's leg.

"Sure thing!" he said, dishing out the devices.

"Aw sweet!" Lilli said, holding their device it in the air.

The Pokedex was shaped like a thin card, almost like a smartphone. It had a glass touchscreen and two red shells on either end that formed a case.
When they tapped the center, the touchscreen expanded, revealing a grid-like interface with slots for each Pokemon.

"Cooool!"
They scanned the scanner at themself.
'Human. Earth's primary sentient species. On average, grown individuals are 1.5 to 2 meters.'

Lilli was overjoyed. "Hehe! Look, I'm Mike!"

They waved the scanner at Litten, imitating the face Mike made when he scanned things.

'Litten, the Fire Cat Pokemon. Logical but also passionate, Litten always remains coolheaded and doesn’t show its emotions on the surface.'

They glanced at Calem. "Hmm, sounds familiar."

They appeared on top of a bookshelf.
"Hey, I wonder what this does--"

Wait, why are they staring at me.

"It does other things too! Theres a phone, a camera, and a few games!" she was showing hers off, witch looked like Lilli's, just covered in stickers of fairy type pokemon.

Calem rolled his eyes as he realized they were comparing him to Litten.

"Hey, be careful up there...!" Professor Sycamore shouted. Laura wondered how they got up there that quickly without KOing the bookshelf.

"Wow, Lily, did you fly up there?" Guinan said as she looked up at the bookshelf. Since the pokemon were otherwise occupied with Lily, Mike, and Calem, Guinan scanned them at a distance. "Water balloons from Popplio's nose?" Guinan laughed. She scanned Rowlett, saying, "Ooh, a pokemon that can really do flying leaps." She watched Litten with Mike, "I think Litten likes you, Mike."

'Up there?'

They looked down.
Ohh my gods, they were on the shelf.
They wanted to go to the shelf, not on the shelf.

They closed their eyes and appeared upside down on the ceiling.
"Ah, there we go."

Wait, no, that's the ceiling, you idiot--


Falling.


Falling down.


They couldn't scream, couldn't speak.


They closed their eyes.




....But nothing happened.



Lilli opened their eyes. They were floating.

Mike was petting the Litten when he noticed Lilli floating near the ceiling. He doesn't seem very surprised. "Uhhh... Why are you floating?"
