I'm pretty sure Google translates Portuguese into Finnish, or vice-versa, in two steps, translating first into English. This seems to be what it does between almost any pair of languages other than English. Maybe there's an exception between French and German.

I haven't tried it out for some time, but the classic example was trying to translate Spanish "el culo" ('the ass', as in 'the buttocks', not 'the donkey') into Portuguese, which should come out as "o cu" or "a bunda", but gave instead "o burro" ('the donkey'), giving away the intermediate translation into English as "the ass".
