Appalachian, not to be confused with apellation.

A range of mountains in the eastern US, with the word for "moniker" or "nickname".

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
When I goggled to get the spelling right I stumbled upon this.

Actually "apellation" also has a rare legal meaning- having to do with truth in packaging for grapes (and sometimes other fruits). When you label grapes by thier geographic origin it has to be accurate or you get into legal trouble- because regional grape growers have legal protection to the region name for their grapes. It started in france - with all that obsession with wine and grapes by region.

If you applied that to other fruits- it would pave the way for all kinds of linguistic implications.

The legal name rule if applied to apples could be called the "apple-ation".

And one of the chief apple growing regions of the USA happens to be the Appalachians.

So- will law firms that specialize in battles over the proper "Appalachian apple-ation" of batches of apples earn "Applachian Apple-ation" as thier firm's "apelation"?

The mind boggles!

I made this mistake recently, I'm embarrassed to say: Trailer is the correct spelling, trailor is a common incorrect spelling. :oops:

Also, someone who goes by Fake AP Stylebook@FakeAPStylebook posted on Twitter:
The word is "bawl." If you're "balling like a baby" then these officers would like to have a word with you.
