C it is!

"So," Koise said after a while, "What are you interested in?"
"I do not find myself to be interested in anything in particular." Kipo replied.
"Oh."
"But I do find myself to like magnets."
"North or South?" Koise asked
"Huh?"
"North or South?"
Kipo remained silent.
"It was a joke." Koise said
"Oh."

"What kind of magnets are you interested in?" Koise asked
"I like all magnets."
"Do you have any with you?" Koise asked.
"Yes, I have my Dayol Cube."
"I noticed that earlier."
"Okay."
"How does it work?"
"The Main Cube is made up of smaller pieces called cubelets. Each cubelet has a different magnetic charge, which is either North 1, North 2, North 3 or South 1, South 2 or South 3. Each charge can only be attracted to it's opposite, so North 1 is only attracted to South 1, not North 3 or South 2. The object of the game is to assemble all the cubelets into a Dayol Cube."
"Oh, so that's how they work!" Koise said. He finally got it! :can I have a go?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because I do not want you to."
"Aw c'mon, please?"
"No. I do not feel comfortable when someone else is using it."

And then all of a sudden the fire went out. Koise looked at wet embers and saw that a small stream of water had flowed into the trunk and put it out. Koise sighed and felt cold again.

Opinion Poll: What do you think of Kipo?
A) I don't like her that much
B) She's interesting at some level
C) I like her a lot
D) I like her a lot, and can relate to her.

Actually, it's a mix. B and D. I can relate to her, but I don't like her a lot. She's interesting. Mostly B, I guess. :)

Nice to see people actually keeping track of this! I like Kipo, you can guess that she's on the Spectrum, eh?

Yes, without a doubt.

I pick B, because I don't know enough about her to actually make an opinion.
Anyway, what's next?

Ooo, people want an update? Great!

Yet more rain. Koise was getting mighty irritated at it. Koise tried lighting it again, but the litter was too wet, and he was unable to strip the bark off the inside of the trunk. Kipo was in a little ball. She tried to get to sleep, but the roar of the rain made her unable to. Right now she was fiddling with her tail. Koise was playing with his game of cards. He figured Kipo would be uninterested in playing cards, so he just played Solitaire. It hyad started to get dark, so he used a white, frosted crystal he packed in his bag and used it on it's staff, and so it acted as a light. This crystal was Koise's favourite, because if you twisted the handle, the beam of light would adjust, from being radiant like a flame, to being a beam like a torch, or just a dot like a laserlight.

Koise would usually have left Kipo there if she wouldn't have wanted to come along with him, but he knew that even if that were true, he would have felt guilty just leaving her in the log, as she didn't seem to be able to take care of herself. Also, it was nice to have some company while on the road.

And then suddenly the rain stopped. It just ceased, like God, or whoever ran the Universe, just reached for the off switch and had walked out of his cold shower. Koise stuck his head out and looked about. Not that it was anything new to him, but everything was wet and shiny, and things on the ground were covered in mud.
"Well, we'd better get moving." Koise said, putting away his pack of cards in his bag and putting it on. He took a few paces and felt his feet were now wet with mud.
"You don't mind walking in mud, do you?" Koise asked
"I guess not." Kipo said. In all honesty, she'd much rather not walk in the mud, but she knew it was either that or staying in the log with Koise, and she didn't like sharing a small space with someone. She walked out and followed Koise down the path.

The way ahead was shadowed by lack of light and the canopy of leaves, so Koise held out his staff to light the way like a large torch. The way ahead was quiet and uninterrupted.

Will they run into anything on the way?
A) Yes
B) No

(you can suggest things for them to run into)

The pair had been walking for a while now, and the light had almost gone out completely in the forest. Kipo took any opportunity to rest, whether it was Koise stopping to check something or her 'accidentally' dropping her Dayol Cube. She wasn't used to walking this long without a break. When she ran from home she stopped on her own if she was tired, but right now she felt it rude to even ask Koise to stop.

Koise turned around to see Kipo panting to keep up.
"Oh, are you tired?" Koise asked with concern.
"Yes." Kipo said in heavy breaths.
"We'll rest here a bit." Koise said, noticing a tree stump, and he brushed off and moisture on it and sat down, and so did Kipo. She pulled her legs up to stop her legs from getting wet. Koise reached into his bag and pulled out two muesli bars. He handed one to Kipo, who took it. Koise found Kipo to be a real oddball. That situation he had with her earlier put him in an incredibly awkward situation, and even without that she was quirky. Her speech was literal and the way she spoke was odd too. Instead of saying the sentence as a whole, such as "Owratsuckeggs", she says each word as an individual, like "Ower-rats-suck-eggs". She also never looked at Koise in a conversation.

But despite all this, Koise, being the person that he is, wanted to look after her until he came to a solution. He did this from instinct, he was a rather kind person, liking everyone except those who didn't like most everybody else.

Then Koise heard someone coming from down the path. He got up and put his hand behind him to tell Kipo to stay there, and picked up his staff. Kipo got up and stood next to him.
"Sit down." Koise said quietly. He adjusted the scope of the staff so that it lit up the path and the shrubbery around it. Koise knew that people would oft stalk and steal in these woods, so he was pretty cautious. Then he saw a figure walk down the path, with it's hand over it's eyes to protect against the blinding light.

It was Marilyn.

How is Marilyn?
A) Perfectly fine
B) She looks as if she's walked many miles, and is exhausted (dirty, low energy)
C) She looks absolutely petrified and struck with horror
D) She looks like she just escaped a battlefield. (blood in her fur, really dirty)

C it is. I need an excuse to write.

Marilyn walked down the path slowly, and Koise rushed forward to greet her.
"Marilyn!" He said, "I'm glad to see you an-... what's wrong?"
Koise noticed that Marilyn was stiff, she was shaking, and that her eyes were wide open with fear.
"Oh geez" Koise said, and led Marilyn over to the tree stump. She wouldn't talk at all, she seemed to be turned non-verbal by her shock and horror. Koise was able to give er food, but for the most part she didn't do a lot.

It was really unlike Marilyn, usually she was spunky and expressive and full of energy. Koise felt like he had to girls with whom he did not really know how to take care of well, it was all new and daunting to him.

And then after fifteen minutes Marilyn spoke.
"Koise..." she said, in a silent and distant voice?
Koise got up from where he was sitting and gave Marilyn his full attention. "Yes?" he said.
"Help me..."
Koise felt shocked at this, and said "What is it?", but Marilyn said no more.

Well, whaddya think?
A) It was pretty good
B) I found it interesting
C) Bah, get on with the story!

EDIT: 42 replies, yay!

It was later on at night that anything productive happened again. Kipo had fallen asleep on a dry bit of the path, and Koise waited for Marilyn to say something for about an hour. And then she stirred. Koise turned, and Marilyn suddenly put her arms around Koise and cried, which made Koise feel awkward.
"Marilyn, it'll be alright." he said. It was all he knew to say
"No, it won't..."
"It will! Trust me!"
"No, it won't!"
"Why not?"
"Because, well, I don't want to talk about it..."
"Well then how can I make it alright if I don't know what the problem is?"
Marilyn took a deep sigh. "I...I....you know how sometimes I like to walk out with my parents?"
"Yeah."
"Did you get that letter from Bob?"
"Yes."
"I got that about four days ago."
"Oh, okay." 'Stupid mailman' Koise thought
"So I arrived at Bob's town earlier than you did. I went to my parents house there and we took a stroll down this path."
"And then what?" Koise asked nervously.
"And then... and then..." Marilyn sounded terribly frightened, "And then this man came out of the forest with a sword and a gun from the part of the path that goes to the town." she sobbed, and continued "He shot my dad in the chest three times, and one in the groin for fun."
Koise felt shocked.
"Me and my mother ran away down the path, but he chased after us and put his sword through my mum...!" she was crying again, her unusual breathing made it hard for her to speak. "I stood there, and he said that I was next!"
Koise suddenly felt the urge to not be around Marilyn for a split second, but logic quickly took over.
"I don't know what to do anymore! I'm so scared!"
Koise had no idea what to say next. He didn't know what to do. If they went to Bob's town they'd be heading for the murderer, but if they headed towards Koise's they'd take the long way back and run the risk of having the murderer catch up with them.

After a while of condoling Marilyn and thinking of what to do next, he decided the best course of action was to go to Bob's town. It was important, and the murderer could be the source of the trouble mentioned in his letter. Plus, Koise had his magic staff, so he could protect Marilyn if he needed to.

1) Was it good? This was my first true despair scene that I've ever written
A) It was very good
B) It was fair
C) It sucked

2) What now?
A) They should wait until morning to set off
B) They should make their way to Bob's town ASAP
