Giant Wetas actually climb trees......the first pictures of them were of a female on a branch above a guy's head.

I would have been too busy staring, gasping, or whimpering in terror to have even thought of photographing the

lovely lady in question......so VERY glad that they do not live in America.

Of course, we do have Kardashians and Miley Cyrus........

I'd pick the weta over them :eew:

Where would one encounter them? Do they come into houses?

Picturing a Giant Weta carrying a shopping bag, ringing your doorbell, and yelling 'Trick Or Treat!' When you open

the door......

 But what kind of treats do one give a weta? Carrots?

Or maybe their "coming into houses" happen when they go from door to door to tell people about their savior the Ant Christ.

Madagascar has Giant Hissing Cockroaches.

They are really, REALLY big, and instead of scurrying away when approached, they rear up on their hind legs, and

hiss/threaten aggressively.

They're mostly on offshore islands, well out of the way of humans. Apparently they're more solitary and less social than normal weta, which can be found throughout most of NZ.

I can assure you that will never happen. While I am a big fan of dancing in the moonlight (wasn't that a song?) in general, when it comes to critters, my motto is "Four legs good, more legs bad".

(You know I had to ...)

♫ Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody's feeling warm and bright
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight ♫

I love that song.

No, it's still Christmas here for a couple more hours. I spent mine with family, and right now I'm just feeling absolutely full. My stomach's not used to eating so much at once.

Hope you're having a great Christmas too, Kyle. :thumleft:

Merry Christmas to you too, Murihiku, from a fellow Summer Christmasser!

No snowmen stand much chance here... at least not those made from the traditional material...
