That talk of talking reminded me of one of my favourite Blind Willie McTell songs: Talkin' to myself. He first recorded this song under the name of Blind Sammie for Columbia Rcords in 1929 (he was "moonlighting" here, for he was under contract with the Victor Record Company).

The song seems to have nothing to do with McTell talking to himself, for it starts with him asking God for an angel. God doesn't give him an angel but promises him a "Teasing Brown" - that is, a pretty black woman. It also details McTell having to run from scores of women at a train station. The song ends with the woman from God being unfaithful, but using voodoo to keep McTell from breaking from the relationship.

McTell also recorded this song later as Ticket Agent Blues and (in two versions) as Lord, Send Me an Angel.

all this speak of blindness has reminded me of my trip to this summer camp i once took for blind kids, because i have a bit of a visual impairment you see. i was younger than, possibly younger than i am now and i must say it was interesting, there was all the usual summer camp things, riding horses for the blind, target practice and all (of course the horses had someone guiding them and they were told to walk slowly and the target practice was mostly done with rubber darts).

Speaking of camp. I have been researching different camps. I am supposed to go to camp. I think I will talk to my om about this one camp. I go to church camp every year!

Speaking of camp, I have never been to camp. I am not young and I think when I was young, they did not have camps for deaf, autistic kids.

Actually, I don't think there are that many now either. One or the other lots, but combined kind of out of luck.

Although I was in a Girl Scout troop for handicapped kids for two years. This was my stepmother's idea and it did not really work. I never sold enough cookies to go to camp and I was probably the only Scout who did not earn even one badge.

So even if I had had a chance to go to camp, I probably would not have been a happy camper.

But now, I am a great couch potato. :D

Couch potato is something I'm not. I'm involved in so many activities (either with Asperger's or with church) that I'm not in that often.... did I tell you that when I am in, I'm on the computer most of the time and certainly enough that I might almost seem a couch potato. More like a computer potato. Most of the time these days when I'm in, I'm researching some sort of geographic or demographic data and finding patterns etc.

My mother must sleep on our couch every night, because she has a terrible problem with acid reflux if she tries to lay flat. We also placed a couple pieces of wood under one side, to keep the couch at an angle. We take the wood out whenever we have guests. Once, after our guests left, my sister and I accidentally put the wood back under the wrong side, and our mother didn't notice. She slept tilted upside down, and could have choked on stomach acid and died! Which reminds me of this apartment in my friends building where an old lady died on her couch, and they left the couch sitting out in the hallway for months. Nobody wanted the haunted couch somebody died on. I definitely believe in hauntings, and ghosts.
