Donkey... I've never seen one in Finland. There must be some of them somewhere, but they certainly are not common.

No donkeys? You learn something new every day.

Well, there are hardly horses, let alone donkeys. Race horses, sure, but ordinary brown bone heads, nope.

I'm surprised to hear that. I shall have to adjust my mental picture of Finland.

Although I guess if you have wolves there, having livestock hanging round in the paddocks seems like less of a good idea.

Horses are not needed any more for farming. And farming itself is on the decline, we cannot compete with the rest of EU, our climate being what it is.

This reminds me of something interesting. Would you open Google maps and find southern Spain? Turn on the satellite view and turn off all distracting labels, so that only the landscape itself is visible. Now, some 150 miles east of Gibraltar you can discern a peculiar white spot on the Mediterranean coast, it is visible all along from the opening scene. Zoom in on it, one step at a time. The spot grows. Can you guess what it is?

Most people who have horses nowadays have them as a hobby. I have to assume then that riding is not very popular in Finland.

(Off to check out Google Maps now)

Am I looking in the right place? It grows but the resolution doesn't improve?

Vapor trail??

Is this a mystery or are you going to enlighten me? :bounce:

Mmm... the resolution should improve. Ok, let's start with the map view. Let Google maps find the Spanish town El Ejido. Then zoom out several steps, turn on the satellite view, and zoom back in.

That's so interesting. I viewed the area in Google Earth, and it's surprising to see what makes the area so white as you zoom in from above (especially if you then go into Street View). I did a quick Google search on the area, too. It's kinda cool, but I wonder if there was a particular reason why you mentioned it (apparently it was mentioned in a documentary about food production).

Are you on the Isla de Alborán?

If so, the resolution will still not improve for me, even though I can zoom in on El Ejido.
Military base or something? Or am I having too many technical problems?

Lol, I thought that's what he meant too, at first. But Krabo said it was along the coast in southern Spain. I think he means the area surrounding the town of El Ejido itself. It's remarkably white, and for an interesting reason.

Wow, that is very cool. I thought Krabo meant somewhere in the ocean. Still very tired. Google earth is an amazing thing.

More games like this! :D
