Where's the dog Murihiku was talking about?

How come everyone else could get street view but I could only get ground view level, which is really unclear. All I could see was blurry white things. Is this an ipad thing again, or am I being technically stupid?

What's next then?

Actually, the picture I posted is not from Google street view. It's from viralnova.com where I first found it a couple of days ago. -- I'm working on the next one, stay tuned. (It may take a couple of hours, I have something to do IRL.)

Ok, here goes.

Find Greece on Google maps, their largest island Peloponnesos in particular. West of the northern part of Peloponnesos you can easily locate the island called Zakinthos. Zoom slightly on it until you can see a village named Volimes in the north. Keep zooming until a smaller village Anafonitria appears. Locate the road between those villages. Zoom in on halfway of the road, right where it makes a larger bend towards west. You should be able to discern a still smaller road from the previous road to the seashore, roughly 1 km long. Look at the end of this smaller road. Even the Google maps show something yellow, it's a beach.

Now turn on either the satellite image view or Google Earth. See what you have found on the beach!

Anyways, now we go to Sudan, Africa. It's easy to locate Port Sudan on the Red Sea coast. Use the map view first. Zoom in on Port Sudan until the scale bar readings are set to 2 mi / 2 km. Drag the map to the left so that the Red Sea covers 2/3 of the map screen, Port Sudan being slightly of center and to the left (west). Google Earth is of no use in this case, but shift to satellite view. You can at once see the light, somewhat Y-shaped formation. It is shallow water. Zoom in on the left branch of the Y. Close to the top of it there should emerge a bright white speck, much like a short needle. Keep zooming. You have found SS Jassim, a Bolivian freighter that sank in 2003.

^ I didn't mean that at all. These are fun. I will check that one out a bit later on though, I've got quite a lot to do this morning.

Despite the fact I am just using Google earth, and can't find a way to get a scale bar, I found it. Cool. This is very interesting, and great fun. I'd better go and do some work now though.

P.S. Krabo - I have a scrapbook of pictures I love, that I have had for many years. I knew I had a small picture of Zakinthos in it, and your bay with the boat in looked very familiar as soon as I got there. Sure enough, when I checked my picture, it's the same place. I just loved the bay, and as the picture was so small I hadn't realised what it was lying on the beach. Now I know, so thank you for that.

I'm going to have to slightly limit the time I am spending here, otherwise I am never going to get back into my language study.

I am aiming for fluent in Italian (a long way away at the moment) and conversational in Finnish.

Maybe we could have another one of the treasure hunt games as a reward when I finally finish chapter 3? (Of course, it's been so long now since I studied that I'm going to have to go back over chapters one and two again.)
