Grammar Castro exiles you to America... ha! Now you have been exiled from this utopian third-world banana republic into a horrible land of freedom and opportunity!

Nah, send him to Australia. All the diversity and multiculturalism will send him mad, not to mention the fact that you don't see kangaroos or koalas in the suburbs. Except as roadkill.

You don't even see them then. The only time that a roo is roadkill though is when its been hit by a semi. Or a larger truck. I haven't actually seen a koala though, and I've lived here all my life. I've heard them though.

I saw a wallaby on the side of the road. :( Poor thing. This was in suburban Gold Coast, albeit near a nature reserve.

Last Friday I saw a wallaby, and then a fox, at the side of the F6 motorway. I know the fox is an introduced species, but still. :(

There's a shocking amount of roadkill on the Tasmanian highways, one suspects because that's one of the few places left where wildlife exists in any quantity. 8O

A small but flourishing herd of feral goats lives in the Bellambi-Maddens Plains region of NSW. Mostly they stay well away from the highway, but now and then you'll see a few of them perched way up on the rock wall beside the road, watching the traffic go by. 8)

Really? I haven't seen a wallaby in suburbia, but then I'm also in Melbourne.

You're probably not going to like me for saying this but I'm glad that the fox got hit. Damn foxes.

Highways don't really count as suburbia SleepyDragon, but I understand where you're coming from. I've seen dead animals on the side of highways, but I haven't seen a dead roo. I mean a great big male red kangaroo. I've heard stories, and seen a trashed car from hitting one, but never seen one afterwards. Apparently they just hop off if they're hit by a car. 8O

No, I've never seen a boomer by the side of the road. And I hope not to, anytime soon. 8O

My husband was once riding in a car which hit a wombat. The car was wrecked, and the wombat waddled away into the bush with just a tiny trickle of blood coming out of its snout. 8O 8O 8O

I think it's that three-sword style Zola (or whatever his name is) uses in One Piece.

Zoro...

The only way I can see out of that is if Japanese has phonemic contrast between /r/ and /rr/. You know, like in Spanish where if you say "perro" where you should have said "pero", it can lead to violence. :o

They do distinguish between it, as there is a method to 'double' a consonant, and I presume they can with 'r'. Basically, in Japanese, 'Zoro' would be spelt in two letters, 'Zo and 'Ro'. To make something like 'Zorro', it would be 'Zo' '(tsu)' 'Ro'. The 'tsu' extends the consonant on the succeeding syllable.

Length is not contrastive for /r/ in Japanese.
