"Wow, I wonder what's eating her?", Rose asked Dan, and Dan just shrugged, confused as well.

"As I recall, Dan...you're a Pokémon Champion back in Unova, right?", Rose asked Dan again, though softly so no one can hear them.

"Yeah," Dan answered, "Though I don't really mind that much. I mean, I'm still a Pokémon trainer just like you guys, right?"

Lychee shook their head. "Nah, it was just luck and type matchups. If you had any other type, I would have lost. You've got a really good strategy, by the way."

"Y'know... battling isn't as bad as I thought it would be."
They nodded their head slowly, a small smile spreading onto their face. "You just have to think about what you're doing and not get distracted. It's not so bad, after all."

They grinned as they shook hands with Laura. "Y'know, I might actually consider becoming a Pokémon trainer... like you. It seems like a lot of fun."

"Thanks for battling me." they added. "It really means a lot to me to be able to battle with the Kalos Champion. You're super cool."

"And that's probably what stung so much." Calem concluded. "Though knowing her, she probably just wants to be alone right now."

"But wait... if your not a trainer then how in the world do you have Pokemon?" He asked, doing a double take at what they said.

Lychee shook their head. "Uhh, no, those aren't my Pokemon. They're just family pets. We don't use 'em to battle."

"But, you just used them to battle. And that was a Marrowak instead of a Cubone so it had to have evolved, correct?" He asked, looking perplexed.

Lychee slapped a hand to their forehead. Why was this dude asking so many questions?

"Duuude, anything can battle. You could grab any s**t off the street and make it battle. Hell, even the Chansey at the Pokémon Center can battle. Is Nurse Joy a Trainer? No.

You can catch Pokémon that are already evolved."

"'Grab anything off the street'? What if the Pokémon wasn't yours to begin with?", Rose asked, concerned.

Sign, who had been casually chatting with Lychee's mother, gained a worried expression as Laura came running back into the restaurant. " Laura, is something wrong?"

Suddenly an announcement came on over the PA system in the restaurant.

"Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests, the Richissime Restaurant shall be closing in 15 minutes. Thank you."

Lilli tilted their head. "No. There is something wrong. There's something slightly off about you."

"I just forgot my usual pokemon, that's all." Laura said meekly, trotting over to the PC.

"Hey! Don't go again!" Kimmy called out, formerly helping Lucy, Lizzie and herself to stay awake. "We love you, Laura! Even if your losing battles, we'll always be your fans.

Laura's face lit up crimson. Wait, no... shoot. A bunch of my kindergarden fangirls saw me lose? This is really, really bad.

"I'll go after Laura, and make sure she's alright", Rose told and started walking out of the gym when the PA announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests, the Richissime Restaurant shall be closing in 15 minutes. Thank you."

"Hmm," Dan said to himself, "Sounds like we should be leaving soon. Alright, cousin, just be careful."

"Shedinja!", Dan's Shedinja calls out as if to say Yes! Please do!

Then the two walked up to Lychee, and Dan said, "That's actually a pretty good battle, though. Congratulations."

"....Th-thanks." Lychee said. They weren't expecting anyone to come up and congratulate them. Their happiness was temporarily dampened by Laura running off, though.

Their eyebrows creased together, looked worriedly off into the distance. "Do you think... Laura's okay? I didn't mean to set her off."

There was silence for a second, before Lychee looked down at ground. "I should've known this... probably wasn't a good idea." they said lowly. "She seemed like a really... sensitive person, anyway."

Still, it was kind of exciting. They didn't expect Pokémon battles to be so… easy. And, like... nothing came to Lychee easy.

But this was different. It felt like something they would actually enjoy. They hadn't felt that kind of excitement in years and years.

There's a moment when you've been looking for something for a long time, and then you finally find something you like, and something clicks and you're like, "This is what I want to do."

And that was what Lychee were feeling right now. But they had to confirm it with somebody.

Lychee turned to Dan, stopping him. "Wait. I've got a question."

"Yes?", Dan responded to Lychee.

The Ariados had been clacking menacingly at first, but it hissed and writhed as it was hit in the face by the Ember attack. "Like, awesome blossom!" Olive cheered.

Suddenly the Ariados began swiping at Foxy with its six legs, taking advantage of his proximity.
"Watch out, that's Fury Swipes!" Olive warned. "It hits multiple times!"

She couldn't tell if Foxy dodged the the attacks or not, but he hit the Ariados again with an Ember. The giant spider fell onto its back, its six legs thrashing about in the air as it emitted a terrible hissing noise. Guinan would notice that its HP had been lowered to just about one-fourth.

"Now's your chance!" Olive said, shoving a Poke Ball at Guinan. "Get it while it's down!"

She covered her ears. "OhmyArceusIlovePokémon but that is uber gross!"
