Just in case you may have forgotten, the equation for this scenario would be the elementary:

S = 0.5*a*t^2

S = final displacement

a = acceleration

t = time

Since you stated no initial velocity then the formula would be wrong but since objects are effected by gravity then it is acceleration is 9.8 m/s. The problem is I haven't done physics while since 11th grade but I have a good understanding of physics.

For someone of my mass, the PE to be dispersed would be:

118 kg * 9.83 (m/sec^2) * 922 m = 1.07*10^6 (kg*m^2 / sec^2) or Joules

That's 1,070,000 Joules of energy, given to both air resistance and the impact.

S=0.5at^2 is correct for no initial velocity. If there were initial velocity,
then the equation would be: s = vt + 0.5at^2
Also, Quatermass solved it correctly.
