I knew some Fourniers who lived in Colorado. They visited us when I was living on Long Island some 30
years ago..

Not personally. I just glanced at the phone book for Caen and none are listed there, so maybe it isn't a widely used name?

Fournier.


My nearest city is Caen so I looked in the local (Caen) phone book for the name Fournier. None in. Extrapolating thus that it is not a common name.

Well, there would have been some left, but you're right. More people died in the Massacre than in the Reign of Terror a couple of centuries later. Or at least at a more rapid rate.

Well it was also a very specific mass murder: the elimination of family and neighbors which were closely known. The Revolution was more chaotic and unplanned.
