Due to Litten being resistant to fire type moves the ember attack does half it's normal damage bringing Litten down to barely any HP. After hearing Kiki's explanation of the status move Gristle used Mike briefl yconsiders using growl before realizing that it probably wouldn't help much anyway, so he orders Litten to use scratch twice more before he falls asleep from the Slugma's yawn move.

(I actually now have a coworker named Dan, so now I am having trouble not imagining UncannyDanny's character as being him. )

"You don't need them here to tell you what to do." Umbria said encouragingly. "Just make them what you think they would like."

"Thanks," Kiki replied nervously. "Glad somebody likes my pancakes." They scratched the back of their head.
"Er... can you tell what they are?"

(If you're wondering, this is what the pancakes look like. )

"Honestly I don't know them well enough to know what they like, so I really am at a standstill." She said.

Laura squinted at the half eaten pancake. "Sans? ...From Undertale?" She asked with a nervous grin.

Umbria continued to eat her pancakes. "Well, judging by all that dessert they ate last night, I'm pretty sure they just like anything sweet." She paused all of a sudden.
"Actually, have you tried chocolate? I'm pretty sure their mom mentioned they really like chocolate."

Kiki suddenly perked up at the mention of Undertale. "Undertale? Wait, you've played that game? I've never met any other human who's played that game before!"

They scratched the back of their head at Laura's remark. "Errr.... no. It's supposed to be Hatsune. See? The multiple horns?
And that's why I gave her blue eyes?"

"Well how do they want it decorated is my big question. I'm almost positive they don't want pink frosting and candy flowers, soo..."

"And no I haven't, but Trevs won't shut up about it. My just dad needed a laptop for work so I ended up giving him back the one I got for Christmas one year because I hardly ever use it anymore because anything that clunky old thing can do my Pokedex and Holocaster can do better." She explained.

Laura sweatdropped. "Ehh, I think it looks more like Sans. But it's okay, I can't make pancake designs that well either."

"Actually," Dan said as he was given an Undertale character shaped pancake, "I'm really not familiar with the Undertale games, much. I'm actually more into games made by Nintendo, like Mario, Zelda, Fire Emblem, and, of course, Pokémon."

"Shedinja!", Dan's Shedinja exclaimed gleefully as if to say Pokémon just like me!

"Yep," Dan agreed, then he said, "speaking of which, did you know that some Pokémon games here were actually inspired by some true stories about other previous Pokémon trainers before us?"

~Earlier, in the other dimension~
Scratch narrowed Mercury's HP down into the orange, but it still didn't knock him out.

On the second turn, when Litten fell asleep, Gristle ordered him to use Ember, hopefully delivering the finishing move to Mike's Litten.

"Sweeet!" Gristle cheered, pumping his fist, thinking he had won.

"Well, this is a special occasion," Olive answered. "I don't get out of the house that often."

Before Guinan could say anything else, the Cobalion suddenly reared up into the air like a horse. "Easy, boy! We aren't leaving yet!"

Olive turned to Guinan with determined expression. "You wanna get to the grocery store? We'll get you to the store in no time." She had an excited grin on her face.

Guinan may have looked out into the street. Wait, but weren't they in the middle of a crowded urban street? There were cars, and people, and fruit stalls blocking the way. How were they supposed to get to the store quickly if--

"HOLD ON~!" Olive chimed.

Oh boy.

Guinan hesitated a moment longer, looking up and down the street with a little frown. But then, she made up her mind and attempted to get on, saying, "OK, I'm as ready for this ride as I'll ever be."

Are you sure this is safe, Lady Olive? Amon asked. Guinan screamed and was clinging to Olive for dear life as they jumped over a taxi and came stampeding right through the center of a farmer's market.

"Of course it is! Right! Right!" Olive shouted.

Amon accidentally skidded across the tiled floor, crashing into a fruit stall and causing oranges to fly up everywhere.

"Sorry!" Olive called.

Amon, who now had a wet poster stuck in front of his eyes, spat out an orange peel and continued charging blindly ahead. I assure you, my lady, this is not safe!

"Whatevs, just keep going!!"

Er, where are we going now? the blinded Pokemon asked. He couldn't tell where he was going anymore.

"That way!"

He turned "that way," and veered right into an outdoor restaurant, where tourists screamed and scattered in all directions.
"YAHOOOOO!! !"

Olive sighed as they finally reached the grocery store. "Hoo!" She jumped off her Pokemon and gave a contented nod. "...Well that was fun, wasn't it?"

....But there was no response.

"Hm? What's the matter?" She tilted her head in concern. "... Oh dear! Why is your face so blue, Guinan?"

The normally composed Guinan still had no words. More than once, she had expected to crash or to be thrown off the creature's back in a very painful fall. The looming obstacles had been just too close for comfort. Now that the ride was over, she adjusted her hair and tried to control her rapid breathing. Slowly, shakily, she got off Amon's back, and she leaned against him as she started to regain her composure.

The attack hits and makes Litten's HP drop to zero. Litten's Pokeball automatically recalls him. "I guess you won. I assume he will be alright, right?" says Mike.

~Earlier, with Olive~

"Hoo, great!" Olive sprung up with a grin. "Great to see you're okay!"

"For a second there, I thought you had gotten motion sick or something..." Olive wiped the sweat from her brow. "Glad to see that's not the case."

She sprung up, holding the giant rolled-up scroll from before.
"Okey, well I've got the grocery list!" She pointed toward Guinan. "But I'm gonna need you to carry the other end of the list behind me, 'cause it's pretty long."

Oh, that's right. Didn't Olive say she was going to need groceries for the next six months or something, to avoid the paparazzi?

At another time, Guinan might have chuckled at the ridiculous job of holding up the other end of the grocery scroll. Tonight, however, she just stood there silently, not commenting on her shaky legs or her queasy stomach.

After another moment, she removed the poster from Amon's eyes, suddenly noticing he hadn't done that himself. She then grabbed the other end of the scroll as instructed, ready to follow Olive.

After several hours of shopping, Olive, Guinan, and a few of Olive's Pokemon came out hauling several bags of groceries.

"Whew! Well that was fun, wasn't it?"

Guinan, meanwhile, was struggling under a box several times the size of herself.

"Here," Olive smiled, picking up the six-foot box with one hand, "I'll take the spare refrigerator."

With a rope she had gotten from the store, Olive tied the refrigator down to Amon's saddle. Then they proceeded on a wild ride through the market. Luckily no fruit stands were harmed this time.

Then they got home, and Guinan helped Olive put away all of her six months' worth of groceries. By the time they finished, it was almost midnight.

"Whew," Olive sighed, collapsing against the countertop and sliding to the floor. "I think your work here is pretty much, like, all finished up."

She counted off the things she had crossed off on a list. "Let's see, you've washed the dishes, cleaned the basement, dusted the trophy room, fed the Pokemon--thank you!-- gone to the grocery store, and put all of the groceries away."

She turned to Guinan with an impressed look. "Oh my gosh! You are all done, girl."
