Well of course, if you look into it, they're European in origin.

Bav=Bavarian (Germany)

If I had to choose between roo and witchetty grubs, I'd take the witchetty grubs. They're tasty, and not tough at all. Some people might find the idea of chowing down on insect larvae a bit of a challenge, though.
