The Star Wars and Rocky series have a few things in common: both started in the last half of the 1970s; both have six main films in the series; both have one film that's rated PG-13 while the others are rated PG; both had installments in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s; and both are getting 7th installments soon: Star Wars: The Force Awakens later this year and Rocky spin-off Creed in 2016.

Despite both series having six installments spanning the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s, none of them were released the same year. The Rocky films were released in 1976, 1979, 1982, 1985, 1990, and 2006, while the Star Wars films were released in 1977, 1980, 1983, 1999, 2002, and 2005.

1982 and 1985 were the only years in which both a Rocky and Rambo movie were released: Rocky III and First Blood in 1982, and Rocky IV and Rambo: First Blood Part II in 1985.

Mission: Impossible III and Casino Royale were released in 2006, the only year in which both a Mission: Impossible and James Bond movie were released. It'll happen again later this year, when Mission: Impossible 5 and Spectre are released roughly one month from one another.

A full-sized statue exists, of Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa.

Stallone has offered it to the museum whose steps he ran up in his training scenes, with the requirement that the statue must be placed at the top of the stairs.

The museum has repeatedly said 'No, thank you'.

Jason Statham's character from the Transporter films appears briefly at the beginning of Collateral delivering a bag to Tom Cruise's character. The transporter's name (Frank Martin) is never used due to rights issues, but the producers intended it to be the same person.

I love the movie the Princess Bride. Cary Elwes had a broken toe for much of it, including for the major fencing scene.

Robin Wright had a major crush on Carey Elwes during the filming of 'Princess Bride', and said so, years later.

Anyone who loves Princess Bride should read 'As You Wish' By Cary Elwes. Andre the Giant had a bad back. Vizzini's actor was ensure of himself throughout the move (Wallace Shawn). And the film did not do as well as hoped originally.

That book is full of interesting tidbits.

Many of the greatest films were originally considered failures.....

'Casablanca' was one.

Critics didn't like Citizen Kane either, and it was snubbed at the Oscars. How Green Was My Valley won Best Picture instead. Citizen Kane is often cited as the best film ever made, but few people today have even heard of How Green Was My Valley.

Also, two of the best films of 1982, Blade Runner and The Thing, were torn apart by critics. Blade Runner is now considered one of the best science fiction films ever made, and The Thing is considered one of the all-time best horror films.

Kind of makes you wonder which of today's failures will be tomorrow's classics...

In Halloween, Michael Myers' mask is actually a Captain Kirk mask which was altered for the film. It was purchased for less than $2!!

Since the actress who does Mrs. Wolowitz in The Big Bang Theory has passed away, they are going to have her character pass away as well. Just like the actress who did Tony Soprano's mother.

Mike Todd, Hollywood and Broadway producer, is best known for being Dame Elizabeth Taylor's third husband, and perhaps the real love of her life.

He was married to the late actress Joan Blondell from 1947 to 1950.

She blamed him for their bankruptcy, claimed physical abuse, including holding her out of a hotel window (or over a balcony) by her ankles.

The LEGO movie won a "Critics' Choice Award", last night!!

'What fresh hell is this?' is actually one of Dorothy Parker's most famous quotes; she said it whenever her phone rang.

She also is the source of the observation 'Men never make passes at girls who wear glasses.' and (referring to an actress acquaintance who was rather fond of men) 'She can speak four languages, but cannot say the word 'No' in any of them'.

Oh, THAT'S cool!! I wonder if whomever came-up with the line----Jim Parsons or the writers----knew she said it.
