I've been to a town called Springfield, it's near where my granny lives. I doubt there is a Homer Simpson there though.

There are several springfields in the US of A. There was a contest to determine which springfield is the one from the simpsons (MA is the one.) vermont won, even though the simpsons is based in springfield MA.

I've been to Edinburgh. Too many hills, too many cafes claiming to be the one where JK Rowling wrote Harry Potter, and too little police boxes that actually look like a TARDIS.

I shall agree with you on the excess of Harry Potter cafes and the lack of TARDISesque police boxes, but you can never, EVER, have too many hills. Edinburgh is, if anything, too flat for me.

I went to France once, it was so flat. Looking to the horizon and being able to see so far was really unnerving. It felt too open.

EDIT: Wait, does that mean you saw some police boxes that didn't look like the TARDIS?
