Whelp, the medical community comes-out with something different just about every week----and then retracts it.....

• "Don't eat eggs!!" - "It's okay to eat eggs."
• "Don't drink coffee!!" - "It's okay to drink coffee."
• "Don't eat butter!!" - "It's okay to eat butter."

To cap it all off, as far as I am concerned, the little kid who was declared cured of AIDS or HIV, or whatever they want to call it, about a month or two ago, has relapsed...I am livid at the irresponsibility of those who presented to the media that 'We have a cure!'

Do they have any concept of the heartbreak that they have caused, how many who they gave false hope to?

Frankly, I am furious!

Do you feel, as I do, that until a medicine or type of treatment is PROVEN to work that researchers need to keep their mouths shut?

How could I not?

Why can't someone send Jenny McCarthy a one-way ticket to Antarctica?

What's wrong with Jenny McCarthy?

She has for years loudly proclaimed that any and all childhood vaccines cause babies/children to become autistic.

She has written at least two books claiming that that is what happened to her son.

Lately there has been serious doubt that he is Autistic.

She has caused an unknown number of frightened parents to refuse vaccines.

Please Google this idiot, I get too upset thinking of the damage she has done.

Can we send her to an isolated nunnery, preferably Nepalese Buddhist, where everyone must take a vow of silence?

But would the Nunnery agree to take her?

Perhaps an isolated, abandoned nunnery high in the mountains, and a bag of rice could be dropped off once a week?

Or one could choose to ignore?

She keeps publicly blaming Autism on childhood vaccinations.

There are people who are refusing shots for their kids.

It is a bit late to change your mind once your kid gets polio.

I thought that's what you meant, Sylkat, when you first mentioned Jenny McCarthy. Your info. on her is very old! ! She has not said anything of the sort, maybe, for a couple of years----and has retracted her original claim. Now, as for the damage she's done, ie, causing these parents to not get shots for their children----there's a recurrance of whooping cough, for instance----well, I don't know what they're going to do----TERRIBLY unfortunate that she said that----BUT, in her defense, she felt she was doing the right thing----AND, people should NEVER BLINDLY follow someone's advice----not even a doctor's!! !! In this day and age of the Internet, THERE'S NO EXCUSE!! !

As has everyone, I've heard sooooo MANY theories as to what might cause Autism.....

The one that I thought of, that I haven't heard anyone else say anything about, is that, maybe, it's possible that it is caused by lead----or some other metal / chemical in our drinking water. I got the idea from people saying it could be caused by lead paint. I thought that the likelihood of ALL these children eating paint, was improbable----BUT, they ALL drink water----even if it's just when they eat a hot dog that's been cooked in "poisoned" water.

SO, my thinking is.....

Why do so many people follow someone's advice, so blindly----WITHOUT QUESTION????

I agree with your reasoning, absolutely, but the latest I read, yesterday, was not a retraction, but a denial of her condemnation of vaccines.

She now says that she did not say to refuse vaccinations, but to only allow one per visit, that getting more than one during one appointment was causing Autism.

She also said and wrote, repeatedly, vociferously, that mercury was in vaccines and that that was the cause.

She was proven wrong, manufacturers had stopped including it years before.

In addition, she is publicly claiming that her son has been cured of Autism by a gluten-free diet and chelation therapy.

She seems to have no regard for the pain of parents who have, or will, try anything to help their children, and the broken hearts when these therapies may not work.

No matter what she believes,she has hurt people,and behaved irresponsibly.

You or I would be researching like mad, but there are vulnerable people who are tragically credulous, and, as you said, 'follow blindly'.

Personally, I could have slapped Steven Jobs when he chose an 'alternative treatment' instead of chemo and radiation. Before his death, he expressed his regret for that, but did anyone who rightly considered him a brilliant, intelligent man make the same wrong choice because of his example?

Sylkat, could you please post, here, the Internet address to what you read? I just did a brief scan on a search engine, and I can't find anything like what you're describing.

Tomorrow, I'll check the books that I have of hers, to find-out exactly what she said, at the time of her initial claim.

Maybe now we could talk about . . . say, the weather?

Which weather? Whether or not Jenny McCarthy is a ding dong? Or the ambient weather where Jenny McCarthy is now?
