Good god they could have made a go of it I know several swiss people who wanted to take home a Holden v8 ute , though couldn't do so due to costs , such a unique product simply does not exist in that part of the world .
And fools say good riddance to Holden do they really know what their saying ?

no they don't only the japbland utes and even than it's a limited range did you know Switzerland was the 5 th biggest investor in oz in the 90's yet oz shut down the trade commissioners office their they shouldn't get to obsessive with China this love affair happened with Japan in the 70's and 80's in fact it got so out of hand they used to say "Gold Coast beautiful one day Japanese the next" when the bubble burst their it hit oz hard and the recession was deeper and longer than it should have been.
Ps not sure if you have seen the Holden ad is it on tv ? (seen it on You Tube) The "we are still here and here and here just cause we don't make cars here we are still here for Australia
, that's so easy for some one like the chaser to mock. What a joke I think I read labor costs are only 10% of the rrp of the finished product if that's the case what a joke that could easily be narrowed with currency drop /shipping costs etc.

I saw that Holden ad on YouTube last week, too. What a joke! And LMAO about "beautiful one day, Japanese the next". That's so true on the GC ... or at least it was when I was studying Japanese back in high school.

well if you had read this book
, you would realise c-clock was invented by the Germans. The book was a bit of a laugh, in fact it even opened my eyes. 
, my point about Swatch and the loss of Holden is "innovate or die" In the 70's their was a onslaught of cheap quartz cheaply made Asian watches so what did the swiss do ? 200 + Engineers spent years and 10 's of millions of dollars to 1/2 the amount of parts to each watch and finding more affordable parts/materials. Swatch has been credited for saving the industry their they own all the big brands like Tissot etc.
Jermay Clarkson of Top Gear fame once remarked the uk have made resting on their laurels a national sport now I know where the aussies get that trait
It's sad really in the dev world in the last few decades #1 to have lost the most manufacturing jobs is the uk, than Holland than oz .
