Bonjour Erminea, I'm fine and you? I'm a bit short of time at the moment, lots of things happening.
I've got to write a letter in French to the damn bureaucrats here in France. Sigh! French bureaucracy takes some beating. They want a copy of a document that has never existed and never will exist so I have to patiently try to explain that to them. Then I have to hassle the bureaucrats in England and explain that despite their demands to the contrary dead people will not reply to their letters, no matter how much they threaten them! I get fed up of repeating myself to these pen pushers.

I'm so so but not that bad. Thanks. Yeah, bureaucracy and the desk legions can be a pain in the a..., I know. Quite the same here, I think. Um, sorry to hear.

Can't someone help you with the letter?

(I'm off for a little while but back later on)

I'll muddle through. I'll write the letter in English first then try running it through Google translation into French, then manually change bits if necessary then run it through the translation engine back into English again and see if it still makes sense.

Sometimes these automatic translations leave a lot to be desired. The worst one was when we first moved to France and I wanted some logs for the wood burning stove. Google translated my request into wanting to burn some ships records (logs  ).

Oh, but old ship logs tend to burn quite nicely. A bit fast maybe but.... nah, never mind.

I've never seen a good translation site or anything alike yet.. The silliest things they tend to come up with.. plain stupid suggestions they opt.. Um, Eng - Fr or vice versa is of course quite difficult being such differently based languages (but that's been said before).. even the software goes 'huh?' probably sometimes.. (leading to touchiness and irritation, relation probs at home, etc.... poor software) 8O

(sorry)

Good luck with the letter, T and the French bureaucracy. After the frustration, it probably turn out fine, I hope.

You had a long win there.

The trouble with translation engines is they don't understand the context, so when a word has multiple meanings they often struggle to pick the correct one.

I win :D

From language to language the denotations are similar but the connotations are not......
