Anyone care to see an account of a monthlong excercise in sheer frustration (I asked the admins for help with a problem, explained said problem in excruciating detail, admins just don't get it, hilarity ensues)

I'd like some other people's opinion on this... am I being unreasonable, is the admin impossibly dense, both maybe?

You be the judge.

Extra credit for anyone who can actually SOLVE the problem (which the admin insists does not exist)...

linky: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt115095.html

(I posted it in this thread because this thread gets a lot of traffic, for reasons that will become obvious)

Just before I hit submit, i will make absolutely certain that the "Notify me when a reply is posted" checkbox is not checked, also for reasons which will become obvious.

The result will be interesting, and all results will be forwarded to the admin's private email, unless a majority tells me that the admin is correct and I am being unreasonable...

Every email you get, find the topic and then you click on the one you are getting emails from?

At the bottom of the page, there should be "Stop watching this topic" click it for each one you get, hopefully that should solve your problem?
And on the settings page, untick Always allow email notification or something smiliar and now you shouldn't be able to get that much emails and eventually it would be eliminated.

superboyian.

I certainly wouldn't want a notification about every post in this thread. My inbox would explode. 8O

Indeed... and I've been living with this for a solid month, while all the while Lau insisted that the problem was on my end... (might be a virus, he said, or someone may be spoofing our emails, he said)... For a solid month I wait for a solution while Lau does nothing...

So finally, today, after forwarding only a small fraction of those emails directly to Lau's email, I finally get an Honest response... and it was a doozy...

These are still showing as watched by you. If you go to their first page, as per the links above, and click on the "Stop watching this topic", I'll look to see if they have left your list.

You could ask Alex to delete all the watched thread records for you. I'm not happy to do this sort of thing - for various reasons.

He posted this in the forum... I didn't even get the courtesy of PM...

My response:
Quote:
I should be watching zero topics... You're telling me you could fix it but you're not happy to?

!

You're the admin. It's your job.

If you don't want to do the job, step down and give it to someone who won't shirk their duty just because it makes them unhappy.

:x :x :x :x :x

I waited a month for this. And still, the emails continue.

And I will keep forwarding them to his email, just to keep him apprised of the situation.
