I always find myself wondering why you use the "queen" emoticon in these situations...

Reminds me of my first day of work at my first (proper) job. I had to go to a safety briefing with all the other new folks, and one of the things we had to do (probably to foster 'teamwork') was to say, in front of all the other people, three 'facts' about ourselves, with one of them being untrue.

Now, I really didn't want to lie to all these people, even though it was supposed to be part of the game (actually I didn't want to participate at all, but I was going to have to), so I figured my untrue 'fact' (as though there could ever be such a thing) should be something obviously false. I also thought I'd introduce a bit of levity to the proceedings.

So it got to my turn, and I said to all the people there "My name is [McTell] and I... used to be a woman."

Nobody laughed. They all just looked at me funny.

Hope you were not offended by their kinda non-reaction.... I think it was a great joke.... (he who dares to mock himself really.... is free from a lot of vanities and thus.... ) (or something alike)

Um, most people take themselves too seriously and have little sense of humour left (says I, monsieur LeErm.. um?. ).. but it's true.... I'm the happiest when I can really laugh out loud 'about' myself. Obviously I'm not.... this or that.... so to say I'm the opposite of what I obviously am....

Blah (3x)

(sorry)

I niw.... not?

Nah, I wasn't offended or anything. I find it funny now that nobody laughed.

At the time though I was a wee bit worried that maybe they weren't sure it was a joke (a couple of years before that, when I was sixteen, my sister and I were heading into my great-grandmother's funeral and some distant relative at the door who was handing out hymn-sheets said to us "here you go girls." So I guess under certain circumstances I could pass as a very ugly woman - probably not now though, since I've 'broadened-out' a bit).

What's an Amazonian warrior-woman doing in this thread? Shall we have a tea-party? Would you like some scones?
