Last year I learned that lots of my English heritage could have Scandanavian roots as both the Normans and the Saxons came from Viking heritage.

Mmm.. very interesting, have you read Josephus? He relates some of the tribes in Europe back to Japheth, particularly the descendanta of Gomer - the Germans, French, Irish, Welsh, et al. Also some other historical works, documented by Alan Steel, relate the Scandinavians back to the Biblical Tiras aka Thor.

Never knew the connection between Tiras and Thor before.

Only trivial details, but I think it's interesting.

Positively, I think that history provides a way for individuals to understand both themselves and others.

Quite an interesting way to look at it.

Right now there is a gene mapping project to trace the early migrations of mankind.....
National Geographic may more info on this.

Surely gene mapping will give some interesting results, hopefully inline with history.

Time will tell, though I expect to see many of history's unsolved mysteries to be revealed.

Undoubtably, but I hope not all, since mysteries are part of what make life exciting.
