Janis Joplin died of a self-administered heroin overdose she apparently/supposedly gave herself after her girlfriend, Peggy Caserta, left the motel room that they had been 'partying' in.

Peggy Caserta later wrote a book about Janis, 'Going Down With Janis', which made quite a lot of money.

Familiar pattern?

Lita Grey, Charlie Chaplin's second wife, married him to avoid the scandal of an out-of-wedlock child.

He was thirty-five

She was sixteen.

He had first met her when she was twelve and played an angel in one of his films.

Gloria Grahame was apparently discovered in bed (by her husband) with her 13 year old stepson.

She later married him.

Many thought Lana Turner's daughter, Cheryl Crane, was taking the blame for her mother; and, that it was her mother who killed her own mobster boyfriend. If that were true, it certainly went against the grain of the convention that says a mother would instead take the rap for her child.

The 'boyfriend' in question was Johnny Stompanato, a young, handsome, violent member of the Mafia.

Whichever killed him, mother or daughter, both are lucky that neither one had a fatal 'accident'following the murder.

I believe that Cheryl Crane was fourteen at the time.

She was raped repeatedly by one of her mother's husbands, Lex Barker, from the age of ten until she was thirteen.

She wrote a book about her life titled 'Detour', in 1985.

Lita Grey is mentioned in one book as having been the inspiration for Vladimir Nabokov's famous book 'Lolita'.

Three months after his death, Charlie Chaplin's body was stolen, and held for ransom.

Two months later, police found his body buried in a field by a local village.

He was re-buried, the coffin covered with cement before the earth filled in the grave.

August 29, 1977.

Four men were arrested and charged with trying to break into his crypt and steal Elvis Presley's body fromForest Hill Cemetery.

One later testified that they were going to ransom it for one million dollars.

One month later, Elvis' father, Vernon got legal permission to have his son exhumed and buried at Graceland.

Yep, and then somebody mis-spelled Elvis' middle name, on his headstone.

Vernon Presley had specified that spelling because that is the spelling on his birth certificate.

I wonder if anyone here knows why Elvis' stillborn twin brother, Jesse Garon, was never exhumed and buried with his family at Graceland, as Elvis' mother and grand other were.

Well, I'm not so sure about that... The info I am aware of (an interview with Vernon), is that the spelling on Elvis' birth certificate is Aron, because the Presleys chose to spell it that way because they knew of some other little twin boys named Aron and Garon. Vernon DID specify the spelling of Elvis' middle name on his headstone as Aaron because Elvis wanted to change the spelling of his middle name to be the spelling that is in the Bible.

As for Jesse (it's "Jessie" on his memorial marker, at Graceland, I think; but, they said that was a mistake).... I don't know why he wasn't exhumed, and re-buried at Graceland, like Gladys was. I only remember reading something about them not marking his grave, where he is actually buried (in Mississippi, I think) so as to keep it private.

Wow!

Thank you, CampinCat, your Aron/Aaron info contradicts everything that I was able to find!

Now, tell my why, supposedly, certain areas of Graceland are off-limits to visitors.

And what happened to all of the garish but (supposedly) genuine jewelry that Elvis owned?

Okay----just checking.... Is this sarcasm?

~~~~~~~~~~~
As for why certain areas of Graceland are off-limits.... I'm just doin' this off the top of my head, from all my Elvis stuff.... The kitchen was off-limits while Elvis' grandmother ("Dodger", Vernon's mother), and his aunt ("Delta"----sometimes I get them backwards, but I THINK that's right) were still living there. The upstairs is off-limits----ONE, for obvious reasons----everyone would want to see the bathroom where, most probably, Elvis drew his last breath. TWO, the family still LIVES there, so-to-speak, whenever they go back there, they actually STAY at Graceland. There's been lots of times when the family----Lisa Marie, Priscilla, Riley, etc. were upstairs, and tours were going-on, downstairs.
As for his jewelry... Lisa Marie made mention to Oprah that she (Lisa Marie) had, at least, PART of it. I think, if I remember correctly, she definitely mentioned his TCB ring, necklace, and his Star of David / Cross necklace; I think, another ring----and, seems like something else----those things were all genuine. If I can find my tape of that interview, and the info is different than what I've said, I'll le'cha know. Also, I'm gonna look at Priscilla's book because I think that's where I read about the jeweller that was commissioned, by Elvis, to make the TCB necklaces that, I THINK, Elvis, himself, designed.
Dear CampinCat, I was not being at all sarcastic!
Many 'Elvis Lives' theorists use the spelling on his grave as a secret message from Elvis himself that he is not in the grave.
Anyhow, I had no idea that his daughter, etc ever went to Graceland at all, much less stayed there....I cannot see how there would be anything but sadness there for them, but that is just my opinion.
Thank you for the information.
Supposedly, Priscilla took the house that Elvis and Ginger Alden had lived in and which Elvis had intended for Ginger to keep.
