(Note: Naia is a 3-year old all-black shorthair with green eyes. She is a rescue cat, and even though she can be friendly and affectionate, she is very much her own purrson. I'm just her pet human.)

*Naia leaps to the top of the garden wall, and sits with her tail wrapped round her forepaws.*

</ Ahh ... a high sunny spot from which to observe the silly duck-dance. />

*begins grooming*

Despite his native shyness, Quackenbush doesn't mind it if creatures large and small observe his Eddy Actions.

Emily regards the majestic Naia and watches her groom gracefully as sunshine highlights her cool green, mischievous but soulful eyes. "Art thou Naia?", she whispers. "Come, let's have some picnic snacks with Zandrian and his consorts! I shall be thy friend!" As she waits for the cat's reply she espies her companion Quackenbush, spinning and rocking near a crag at the lakeside, and she quacks with giggles and joy under her breath. Such a beautiful day this is!

The crag is not craggy at all! It brings out Quackenbush's Aesthetic Sense. There is much greenery on the hillside, and a savannah-like environment in general.

The sun is warm enough for basking, so Quackenbush commences to lie on his back---then, a half hour later, turns around. He loves to get tan.

</ My ... such formality! A rare gift in these times. />

*yawns*

*stretches*

*head-bumps Emily*

</ Yes, let us be off! Those nut-heads can be fun to watch, and maybe even chase for a while! />

Quackenbush will not countenance anybody interfering with his solitude! Indeed not!

So he opens up his can of "Cloak of Invisibility," and dabs himself all over with it.

"Be seen," implores Zandrian.

The feline brigade are all agog at the amazing sights around them.

Agog they shall remain....Quackenbush does not desire to be chased today. Rather, he desires refined social intercourse.

Do I know the intentions of the Agog Cats? Nay...I do not! But they seem like excellent partners for beneficent games.

</ A cat is never "agog" at anything, my bushy-tailed friend. />

*tail twitches*

</ Except for maybe that red dot in the den I share with my humans ... />

I won't bother following that lazy feline...

I teased a bit of the catnip but didn't like it much. Dunno what cats see in it... Strange taste buds they must have

C'mon kitty friends, let's watch Emily and Quacky race through the water.

From the safety of our shady bank.

The water is nice. Quackenbush is quacking in rhythm, sort of singing a song of Six Pence.

He’s too lazy to go to the Lake Branch of the bank. He’d rather just loll and roll around.

Emily has suddenly lost Naia; she darted into the woodlot whilst the young duck was pruning a grain of sand from her wing. Regardless, she is confident that their friendship is intact and that they will meet again post-haste. The feline colony is mewing and roaming with hunger, but Emily knows she is safe in their midst. She waddles demurely yet with confidence toward the branch of a fallen fir tree, half submerged yet dry, and rests in peaceful shade whilst watching Quackenbush enjoy his play. His song is low but audible o'er breaking waves and the cry of lonely gulls above.

Quackenbush does not disregard the lonely gulls; rather, he seeks out the leader of them, and enquires as to their concerns.

"There are no concerns," the leader of the gulls state.

Realizing gulls tend to be a stubborn lot, he leaves them to their pursuit of leftover food. They are not "lonely," per se. Rather, they are merely pursuing a lifestyle which suits them.

*Naia returns, head held high, a common vole held in her teeth. She prances into her house, where a loud shriek is heard a short time later. Naia and the vole both dash out the door and take off in opposite directions; the vole into the underbrush and the cat to her familiar perch on the top of the garden wall.*

</ Silly humans. They never hunt, yet they get angry when you bring them food. />

*settles in like a brooding hen, watches the ducks, the squirrels, and the other cats for a moment, then closes her eyes*

</ Ah, well ... sunshine, catnip, dancing ducks, and not a dog in sight ... yes, life is good. />

Zandrian: Savages! My other feline friends are vegetarian!

They will turn up their little noses at the idea of vole stew!
