^ Glow, would you edit your post and replace the [800:1200] part with, say, [600:400].

I fixed it.
800x600 is a nice size to aim for, so: take the longest dimension and divide by 800, then divide the other dimension by the resulting number.
Plug 800 into the relevant [x:y] position and the other calculated number into... the other one.
As it was that massive image of the rhododendron was 1600x1200 - so, the correction tweak was a straightforward [800:600].

Meanwhile...

Thanks pup for performing an easy straightforward task for me, but given this tropical
heat wave we're experiencing Brian I don't think that resizing the plant would have altered it.
Yes tis a sugar plant.. sugar.

^ No, that's a pelargonium.
But really, if you're just going to mess about and make up names it's probably better you don't play at all.

Right. For a second I wondered how you were able to trace the original dimensions, but of course the image is where the link takes you. My suggestion of [600:400] was a rough estimate, at a time when I didn't yet know what the original size was. -- Meanwhile,

well I owe you that credit and hope you strive for better games in the future.

If you want some made up inspiration from a primary source then you don't even have to look that far.

^ You really should try using Google before making the insinuation...
Every place name I posted on that thread is real - for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drouwenerveen

Firefox displays the resolution when the URL ends with an image filename. Very helpful. 8)
Reducing the longest side to 800 and scaling the other using the same factor preserves the aspect ratio.

Cornflake, a previous post by glow didn't contain a made-up name: here's the evidence... however, it is a trade name...
