What is he doing all this time.....stockpiling dead fish for the winter?

Ohhhhhh.....

It is Oktoberfest!

He is probably drinking and drinking and imbibing and drinking and sipping, and singing and drinking and dancing, and yodeling, and drinking with a friendly bunch of Bavarian Coconut Crabs.

i am sure that is what he's doing. yodeling especially, a big man must have big lungs, and those must be put to good use!

i'm just watching a film.

The Oktoberfest is going strong where I am...it is 7:00 P.M. Saturday, and the drunks and aimless partying teenagers are EVERYWHERE!

Sort of like 'Dawn Of The Dead', only they are noisier!

It's "Dawn Of The Dead" every day at my local shopping centre.

I hear you.....

Ugh. Schoolies is coming up in my city next month. It's a chance for people who have just graduated from high school to let their hair down and act like total louts for a week. Not just with their friends, but with tens of thousands of other school-leavers from across the country, together in one suburb of the city. Well, okay, they also have a lot of good fun, too. Maybe I'm just getting old. Still, I try to avoid the area like the plague during that time.

It's something of a rite-of-passage for school leavers in Australia, and my city is the most popular location in the whole country for it. In a lot of ways it makes sense, since it celebrates the end of 12 years of primary and secondary education, plus it's a chance for friends to celebrate one last time before many go their separate ways. I just wish they weren't so loud and drunken for most of the time.

Poor Murihiku....I hope you have some noise-canceling headphones and some good shows stored on your computer.

I didn't know it had a name. We had some rowdy end of school celebrations when I left. It was mostly my class though, we didn't see the whole town doing it.

Can't we round up all of the oafs and airlift them somewhere that no one will be annoyed?

i don't think there are too many mountains in finland, except maybe in the north. how bout the lakes??

i graduate in 8 months. when i'm done i just want to spend my summer nights quietly with a close-knit group before i'm off to my 3rd round of skewl.

Well then, does Finland have some isolated, snowy plains where we can drop the noisemakers?
