"The Color Purple" was the same way.

I feel like that's the problem with most movie adaptations.

I agree The Color Purple is a brilliant book, but I've never seen the movie.

I don't usually watch adaptations of books.

That's the thing about Jane Austen's books:

The movie adaptations are usually about as good as the books.
