unicycle
When I was a kid, someone gave us a unicycle. There was one problem with it that they didn't catch when they gave it to us. A unicycle is going to work best, at least for learning to ride it, on a flat level surface. We didn't have such surfaces available to us. We had dirt roads and caliche roads, often with deep ruts from the last rain.
Our sidewalk in front of the house was about two feet wide and twenty feet long. I tried to ride it a few times, but when all you can do is go twenty feet, turn around, twenty feet, turn around twenty feet, ..., the point of riding it quickly becomes lost.
