It?s a character. We can also count with die faces or dominoes, but they don?t have much to show when you?re not counting.

Besides, not every Unicode character is available in the current font these forums are using.

It's not an easy matter to explain. First of all, you should be familiar with Unicode. -- If not, you may wish to have a look at this site:

You are trying to display the Unicode character U+1F031, DOMINO TILE HORIZONTAL-00-00, but all I can see is the default null character. Does it show correctly on your screen?

No, but I don?t even have any of the fonts the site is trying to use for the text in posts besides the generic ?sans-serif? one, so I thought other users might see it :) I?m pretty sure I could get it to show up on my system if I really tried.

So am I with a font of my own design. It has 32,000 characters and every imaginable Unicode symbol, plus some 8000 of my own symbols in the Supplementary Private Use Area-A block.

Yes, it has taken me some three years by now. It doesn't have italics or bold letters, emphasis is on symbols.
