Philip II of Spain

Ruled 1556-98. Briefly married to the Catholic Queen Mary I of England, then became the implacable foe of Mary's successor, the Protestant Elizabeth I. Launched the ill-fated Spanish Armada against England, which was defeated by Sir Francis Drake in 1588. Known as 'The Prudent', which is not entirely appropriate as his country went bankrupt five times during his reign.

Richard I of England

Also known as Richard the Lionheart. Following his accession, he spent very little time, perhaps no more than half a year six, in England. Most of his time as king instead was spent on Crusade or defending lost lands in France following his captivity. Richard was wounded by a crossbow bolt in 1199 and died days later.
